United States | $80,000โ€“$120,000 | Direct-Hire | Remote

This role supports piping and structural analysis efforts for complex mechanical and building systems. The Stress / Structural Analysis Engineer works under the guidance of senior engineers to evaluate piping flexibility, structural loading, and system performance using both analytical methods and engineering software tools. The position blends technical analysis, coordination with multidisciplinary teams, and progressive skill development across piping, structural, and MEP system applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate piping systems to determine the need for flexibility and stress analysis in accordance with applicable ASME B31 codes.
  • Perform piping stress analysis using hand calculations and analysis software to evaluate sustained, pressure, displacement, and occasional load cases.
  • Complete basic pipe stress and pipe wall thickness calculations for pressure and vacuum conditions.
  • Develop and apply analysis models using tools such as CAESAR II, RISA 3D, FEA methods, and supporting hand calculations.
  • Review equipment nozzle loads and recommend piping or equipment configuration adjustments to meet allowable limits.
  • Support development of standard piping support and restraint details to address thermal, seismic, and vibration loading.
  • Coordinate design and analysis activities within 2D and 3D CAD environments.
  • Prepare and release technical documentation summarizing analysis methods, assumptions, and results.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Perform structural analysis calculations to support drawing reviews and design verification.
  • Analyze welded and bolted connections for strength and serviceability.
  • Develop analytical models for equipment, framing systems, and MEP distribution assemblies.
  • Perform static and dynamic structural analyses as required by project scope.
  • Review material selections and system requirements for compliance with applicable codes and standards.
  • Collaborate with internal technical teams to review designs and implement improvements.

General Technical Responsibilities

  • Review vendor documentation for compliance with project and code requirements.
  • Assist with scope definition, cost estimating, and development of engineering solutions.
  • Apply relevant building codes and standards related to piping, thermal stresses, and seismic loading.
  • Develop working knowledge of P&IDs and mechanical system layouts.
  • Support 2D and 3D CAD detailing of piping supports and MEP systems.
  • Interface with third-party reviewers, project teams, and local authorities as needed.
  • Respond to technical questions from internal teams and clients.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Structural Engineering.
  • Two or more years of experience supporting mechanical or structural engineering analysis.
  • Experience with piping stress analysis tools such as CAESAR II, AutoPipe, or similar software.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit for coordination and detailing.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and engineering standards.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize workload, and meet project deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Exposure to ASME B31 codes, ASCE 7, IBC, and related industry standards.
  • Experience supporting MEP or industrial facility projects.
  • Interest in developing expertise across piping, structural, and vibration analysis disciplines.

Benefits

  • Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance coverage.
  • 401(k) with employer match.
  • Paid time off, sick time, and paid holidays.
