Job description

Directors of Production lead teams, initiatives and products from conception through launch and operation inside of the gaming space. They create and align teams to product vision, have a deep understanding of player needs, competitors and market conditions, and are able to balance scope, quality and time to predictably deliver at a high quality bar for players.
VALORANT is Riot's take on a character-based tactical shooter (for more info on VALORANT click here!). As a Director, Game Production on the VALORANT team you are responsible for helping Riot deliver first in class experiences to our players. You will keep the players' experience in mind as you track progress, deliver content/features, and organize priorities and goals. You will partner across disciplines to provide genre-defining experiences to our players.
Responsibilities:
  • Creates, evangelizes and drives a multi-year, multi-team operational vision for initiatives and large development teams
  • Partners with Product Management to manage the portfolio of strategic opportunities for their area, re-allocating resources and shifting organizational priorities to maximize strategic value of plans
  • Partners with cross-discipline leadership to define expected outcomes for full product or large organization initiatives
  • Leverages structured frameworks to ensure consistent communication, decision making, and prioritization around planned initiatives
  • Builds reaction / maintenance plans for live / launched initiative outcomes and owns decision making for those plans
  • Directs planning, estimation and execution of development processes across a large organization or business unit
  • Oversees the delivery of global software projects utilizing both internal and external distributed development teams
  • Ensures that initiatives under their watch can be tested early and iterated on prior to final release in order to maximize value and minimize wasted effort
  • Actively advances Riot's understanding of sustainable development, building sustainability and continuous improvement into products and orgs
  • Creates alignment between their area, stakeholders and partner organizations working towards both common and divergent goals
  • Builds and maintains a positive working environment for their teams that promotes a sustainable work-life balance, collaboration and healthy conflict resolution
Required Qualifications:
  • 10+ years experience in software/game development
  • 6+ years in a production leadership position on a live service game
  • 5+ years direct people management experience, including experience managing people managers
  • 2+ years experience leading teams through metagame feature development (planning, execution, delivery, post-release support)
Desired Qualifications:
  • Deep passion for, and understanding of, competitive online games and their player communities
  • Familiarity with online shooters, especially VALORANT or tactical shooters
  • Experience developing across multiple platforms, including PC, console, or mobile.
