What is game marketing?

Game marketing involves promoting video games to potential players and building excitement around a game's release. It includes activities like creating trailers, running social media campaigns, collaborating with influencers, organizing events, and managing press coverage. The goal is to increase a game's visibility, generate hype, and ultimately drive sales or downloads. Effective game marketing requires understanding the target audience and choosing the right channels to reach them.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in Game Marketing, and why are they important?

To thrive in Game Marketing, you need a solid understanding of marketing principles, campaign strategy, and knowledge of the gaming industry, often supported by a degree in marketing, communications, or a related field. Familiarity with digital marketing tools, analytics platforms, social media management systems, and influencer marketing is essential. Creativity, strong communication, and the ability to adapt quickly to trends help professionals stand out in this role. These skills are crucial for effectively reaching target audiences, driving engagement, and ensuring successful game launches in a highly competitive market.

How does a Game Marketing professional collaborate with game developers during a product launch?

Game Marketing professionals work closely with game developers throughout the product launch cycle to ensure marketing initiatives align with the game's features and target audience. This collaboration often involves regular meetings to synchronize messaging, sharing assets like screenshots or trailers, and gathering in-depth knowledge about gameplay mechanics for accurate promotion. By maintaining open communication, marketers can effectively highlight the unique selling points of the game, address potential community concerns, and provide feedback from early marketing campaigns to developers, optimizing both the launch strategy and user experience.

Job Description:

Seminole Hard Rock Support Services (SHRSS) is seeking a results-driven Regional Director of Casino Paid Digital Marketing to lead strategy, execution and optimization of all paid digital and social campaigns across Seminole Gaming (SGA) properties. In direct partnership with heads of marketing at each property, this leader will be focused on driving gaming acquisition and retention – driving player growth, annual gaming revenue and player loyalty across all our casino and gaming offerings.

The Regional Director of Casino Paid Digital Marketing will also collaborate closely with Hard Rock’s media agency of record to orchestrate complex paid campaigns, enable precise consumer targeting, develop custom attribution models and design consumer journeys that maximize lifetime value. The ideal candidate pairs deep performance-marketing expertise with a strong understanding of the gaming customer and the compliance landscape that governs how we reach them.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the centralized paid media partner to property marketing leads, bringing specialized expertise, strategy, and execution to meet annual gaming revenue goals.
  • Translate property business objectives and micro- and macro-market dynamics into tailored paid media campaigns across all casino and gaming initiatives.
  • Partner with the media agency of record on annual budgeting, planning, and forecasting for casino marketing — establishing budgets, media mix, performance benchmarks, and KPIs.
  • Lead holistic planning for property promotions, events, gaming floor activations, and special offers in coordination with casino marketing teams.
  • Establish an organic-to-paid amplification workflow that extends casino and hotel events, promotions, and offers across paid channels.
  • Oversee the management of paid digital and social campaigns across Google, Meta, TikTok, YouTube, programmatic display, and CTV/OTT.
  • Define player segments, identify high-value player opportunities, and design personalized engagement journeys.
  • Lead first-party data activation across the casino portfolio, integrating Hard Rock's Unity Loyalty Rewards Program to drive member engagement, repeat visitation, and re-engagement of lapsed players.
  • Direct creative strategy and asset development with internal teams and the creative agency of record to ensure relevance to target player segments.
  • Collaborate with CRM, loyalty analytics, and product teams to connect paid acquisition with retention and player-development programs.
  • Align casino campaigns with broader hotel brand and entertainment initiatives, partnering with the Director of Paid Digital & Social.
  • Apply AI and machine learning across campaign strategy, optimization, audience targeting, and predictive player modeling.
  • Ensure compliance with responsible gaming standards, data privacy regulations, and state-level gaming marketing requirements across all digital initiatives.
  • Conduct ongoing competitive benchmarking and platform POVs, staying current on gaming marketing trends, algorithm changes, and emerging technologies.

Qualifications & Experience

  • 10+ years of digital marketing experience, with at least 5 years in casino, gaming, or hospitality marketing
  • Proven track record driving customer acquisition and retention in gaming, casino, sports betting, iGaming, or another regulated, high-velocity consumer industry.
  • Proven track record managing paid digital campaigns at scale across Google Ads, Meta, TikTok, YouTube, DV360, and programmatic channels with measurable ROI
  • Working knowledge of 1P data activation
  • Knowledge of AI and machine learning applications, including their impact on marketing strategy, audience targeting, personalization, optimization, and performance measurement
  • Experience partnering with media buying and creative agencies
  • Expertise of gaming requirements and gaming marketing compliance regulations at the state level
  • Proficiency with campaign reporting and data visualization tools and ability to translate complex data into executive-ready insights
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills

Work Environment

This position is based at Seminole Hard Rock Support Services headquarters in a professional office environment, with periodic travel to Hard Rock Hotel & Casino properties across the SGA and HRI portfolio.
