Job description

Position Title: Assistant Athletics Director for Compliance amp; Student Services
Department: Athletics
Reports To: Vice President for Athletics
Institution: William Jewell College
Classification: Full-Time, 12-month assignment
Position Summary
The full-time Assistant Athletics Director for Compliance amp; Student Services will support all aspects of athletics and institutional compliance, eligibility, and student services. This position
supports student-athlete success on the field, in the classroom, and in the community while upholding NCAA, Great Lakes Valley Conference, and institutional standards.
The Assistant Athletics Director for Compliance amp; Student Services serves as a key liaison between the athletics department and campus and will help cultivate a competitive, values-driven environment aligned with the College’s mission, institutional priorities, and the Division II “Life in the Balance” philosophy.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Monitor and ensure adherence to all applicable NCAA, GLVC, and institutional rules and regulations
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records for eligibility, recruiting, financial aid, playing/practice seasons, and amateurism
  • Support and provide consistent rules education for coaches, staff, and student-athletes
  • Monitor academic progress and eligibility of student-athletes
  • Collaborate with coaches, financial aid, admissions, and enrollment on scholarship and eligibility certification
  • Serve as liaison between athletics and academic departments, as well as Student Success, Student Life, and other key campus offices and committees
  • Maintain compliance databases and software systems
  • Assist with waivers, violations reporting, and interpretations
  • Prepare required reports for federal amp; state government, NCAA, GLVC, and institutional needs
  • Support onboarding and orientation for new student-athletes and coaches
  • Serve as game administrator for assigned sports
  • Promote a positive team culture emphasizing sportsmanship, accountability, and leadership
  • Represent the Athletics Department and institution in a professional manner
  • Comply with all NCAA, GLVC, and institutional policies and procedures
Qualifications
Required
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
  • 2+ years of experience in NCAA compliance
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • Knowledge of various compliance and academic systems, such as ARMS/Teamworks, Compliance Assistant, NCAA Apps, Colleague, etc.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends in assigned sports
  • Have, or be willing to attain, CPR/First Aid Certification
Preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in NCAA compliance
  • Master’s degree from an accredited institution
  • Previous experience working in a higher education environment
