Gainshare information

What is a gainshare?

A Gainshare job refers to a role or arrangement where employees or vendors are compensated based on the measurable financial gains or savings they help a company achieve. Instead of a fixed salary or fee, compensation is tied directly to performance outcomes, such as cost reductions or increased revenues. This type of incentive system aligns the interests of workers or partners with the organization’s goals, encouraging efficiency and innovation. Gainshare roles are commonly found in industries like consulting, supply chain, and manufacturing, where performance improvements can be clearly quantified.

How does working in a gainshare role influence team collaboration and performance measurement?

In a Gainshare role, collaboration is essential, as team members work together to achieve shared performance goals tied directly to financial incentives. This structure encourages open communication, problem-solving, and a collective focus on efficiency and innovation. Performance is measured against established benchmarks, and rewards are distributed based on the overall success of the team, motivating everyone to contribute their best efforts. Regular meetings and transparent progress tracking help align individual actions with the group’s objectives, fostering a supportive and high-performing environment.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a gainshare account manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Gainshare Account Manager, you need strong analytical abilities, a background in marketing or business, and experience managing performance-based client accounts. Familiarity with digital marketing platforms, CRM systems, and data analytics tools is typically required, along with knowledge of contract management. Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills help you foster trust and drive client success in revenue-sharing models. These skills are crucial for optimizing campaign performance, ensuring client satisfaction, and achieving mutual profitability.

Job description

Position Summary

As a CoVentures Deal Lead, you operate as the investing-partner equivalent for a venture function inside Deloitte. You own a portion of the active CoVentures pipeline end-to-end - from sourcing through structuring, contracting, and signing - and you are accountable for the quality, volume, and velocity of deals moving through your book. You partner with senior Deloitte leaders, alliance executives, and external counterparts (founders, CEOs, CFOs, VCs) to originate and shape venture opportunities, validate market and partner potential, and architect bold new business models.

Recruiting for this role ends on 09/1/2026.

Work you'll do

You will quarterback complex, ambiguous deals and translate them into structured ventures with a clear path to ROI. You will operate as a heavy user and contributor to the team's agentic operating system - acting as the product manager for one or more agentic workflow domains. You will provide input into the investment thesis and operating-model decisions from your pipeline perspective.

  • Sourcing and qualification of potential deals
  • Deal shaping, structuring, and execution
  • Pipeline ownership and operating cadence

The successful candidate would possess these skills:

  • Ability to build and nurture an external network (venture firms, founders, Fortune 500 corporate-development leaders, alliance partners) and an internal network (Industries, Offering Portfolios, Products+ leadership, Client Account teams) to source venture opportunities
  • Ability to qualify inbound and outbound opportunities against the active CoVentures investment thesis; map prospective partner companies against Products+ roadmap and named investment priorities
  • Lead deal shaping including market diligence, partner diligence, and joint value proposition development
  • Develop and lead the pitch in partnership with the PMD Investment Lead, client account teams and Offering Portfolio and Industry teams; first-chair at the appropriate level based on deal stage
  • Architect deal structure in partnership with Risk, Legal, Independence, and Corporate Development - including equity stakes, gainshare, outcomes-based pricing, consumption-based licensing, IP licensing, exclusivity, JV constructs, and rights of first refusal
  • Lead or coordinate financial modeling for business cases and complex deals (P&L modeling, NPV, IRR, DCF, sensitivity analysis, product pricing, IP valuation)
  • Lead partner negotiation, contracting, and deal closure; develop the Deloitte business case and facilitate the co-investment approval process
  • Demonstrated ability to lead through ambiguity and manage without direct authority, driving alignment across complex networks
  • Excellent communication, storytelling, and influencing skills, with the ability to tailor messaging for executives, partners, and clients
  • Demonstrates initiative, driven to 'get things done,' and highly curious about emerging technologies and Deloitte's portfolio
  • Experience architecting win-win value propositions and multi-party deal structures in partnership with internal and external stakeholders
  • Exceptional relationship management - able to navigate senior leaders, alliance partners, clients, and enabling functions (Legal, QRM, Finance, Risk, OGC)
  • Active user of agentic tooling; comfort acting as a product manager for an agentic workflow domain
  • Knowledge of tech ecosystems from hyperscalers to AI vendors and how they intersect with professional services
  • Familiarity with emerging technologies (AI/GenAI/Agents, data platforms, SaaS products) and their role in shaping client solutions and new businesses
  • International experience and/or ability to operate effectively in cross-cultural contexts

Qualifications

Required:

  • 8+ years of relevant professional experience in strategy, innovation, corporate development, M&A, or venture-building roles
  • Proven ability to originate and lead at least 1 deal across the full lifecycle - from sourcing and shaping to diligence, term sheet, and activation
  • 6+ years of business case development and firm financials (P&L and cashflow modeling; NPV, IRR, DCF; sensitivity analysis) to lead and guide deals in coordination with teams
  • Ability to travel 10-50%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.

Preferred:

  • MBA or other advanced degrees in business, finance, innovation, or technology
  • At least 1 experience with advanced deal constructs (gainshare models, value-based pricing, product/IP valuation, joint venture agreements)
  • 4+ years experience with complex financial modeling
  • Background in working with or within startups, new ventures, or innovation labs

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $163,400-$322-100.

You may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
