Job description

Environmental Field Technician - Entry Level

Gabriel Environmental Services is seeking a full time Environmental Field Technician for a blend of field and office work. We are a small environmental consulting firm located just north of downtown Chicago.

Job responsibilities include:

· Collection of industrial process and wastewater samples from food manufacturing plants, metal plating facilities, hospitals, and other businesses in the Greater Chicago Area (using company vehicle).

· Log in samples to NELAC accredited laboratory for analyses.

· Measure and record effluent discharge from facilities.

· After training, ability to prepare regulatory reports for various governmental agencies.

· Independently set up sampling equipment and maintain safety standards at job sites

· Interact with clients in a variety of industries and maintain high standard of customer service


Work and Educational Experience requirements:

· Background in environmental science or related fields OR

· 2 to 3 years of independent work experience.

Skills/requirements:

· Computer skills including, Excel, Word, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat

· Strong interpersonal skills to work with customers, clients, and team members

· Good organizational and creative problem-solving skills

· Attention to detail

· Ability to work with minimal supervision and handle multiple tasks

· Comfortable driving (sometimes for multiple hours a day) Valid Drivers License

· Ability to lift 50 lbs

· Ability to work in difficult weather conditions

· Ability to adapt and be flexible based upon workload and customer requests
