A&P Maintenance Technician – High-Volume GA Training Fleet, Texas

Location: Georgetown, TX

Employment Type: Full-Time, 5 days a week


About Client

A high-output flight training operation running an active GA fleet on a continuous daily schedule. Four defined technician levels provide a clear compensation ladder, and a culture of safety, precision, and accountability runs through everything the maintenance team does.


Compensation & Benefits

  • Base Salary: $36–$48/hour — Based on experience and qualifications (4-level technician pay structure)

  • Shift: 10-hour shifts; day and night shifts available

Job Summary

Keep a GA training fleet mission-ready through a steady mix of scheduled inspections, line maintenance, and quick-turn unscheduled work. Aircraft availability drives the operation— and this role sits directly in the critical path of making that happen every day.


Key Responsibilities

  • Complete maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, and repair work on training aircraft in full compliance with FAA regulations and internal maintenance procedures

  • Pull, read, and apply technical documentation including maintenance manuals, wiring diagrams, IPCs, Service Bulletins, and Airworthiness Directives

  • Document every maintenance action precisely and return aircraft to airworthy service without delay

  • Hold the hangar and personal workspace to a consistent standard of cleanliness, order, and safety consciousness

  • Stay in active communication with instructors, scheduling, and ops teams on aircraft status and turnaround timelines

  • Re-sequence maintenance priorities on the fly to keep the daily flight schedule intact

  • Step into day or night shift coverage whenever the operation needs it to keep flying without interruption


Minimum Requirements

  • Active FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Certificate (required)

  • Must be able to obtain Inspection Authorization (IA) within 3 months of hire

  • 5 or more years of GA experience as a certificated A&P

  • High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)

  • Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs and sustain bending, kneeling, stooping, and standing for extended periods

  • No issues working around fuel, solvents, aircraft noise, outdoor weather conditions, and hangar operations


Ideal Qualifications

  • Piper aircraft experience strongly preferred

  • Garmin G1000 avionics background is a plus

  • Grounded in 14 CFR Parts 43 and 91

  • Sharp troubleshooter who trusts their own airworthiness judgment

  • Gets things across clearly; works easily with cross-functional teams

  • Comfortable with Microsoft Office; willing to pick up Talon RMS or similar maintenance tracking tools

  • Meticulous about documentation and regulatory paperwork

  • Independent, steady, and at home in a fast-moving training environment
