Reporting to the Senior Director Revenue Cycle, the Revenue Cycle Optimization Manager is responsible for analyzing performance, identifying opportunities, and directly leading and implementing workflow improvements across the end to end revenue cycle. The role blends strategic perspective with hands on execution, including the design, piloting, implementation, and sustainment of changes that improve patient experience, financial performance and operational effectiveness.
Partnering closely with leaders across operations, finance, IT, compliance, and clinical areas, this role translates patient and revenue cycle focused KPIs into targeted workflow changes, aligns stakeholders, and ensures solutions are practical, scalable, and sustainable.
Experience
oFive or more years of experience in revenue cycle at managerial level.
oExperience in quality, process improvement, industrial engineering, or business analysis in healthcare
oExperience in leading teams and facilitating workshops from start to finish with measurable results and operational impact
oExcellent presentation and negotiation skills
Preferred Qualifications
oMaster's degree in healthcare, business, engineering, or related field
oCertification in facilitation, process improvement, project management, or related field

Revenue Integrity and Risk Mitigation
  • Strengthen revenue integrity by identifying and addressing upstream and downstream drivers of patient dissatisfaction (e.g., authorization delays, surprise post-service balances, etc.) and revenue leakage across the revenue cycle.
  • Analyze front- and back- end denial, edit, and error trends to determine root causes and implement workflow changes that improve patient experience, clean claim submission and reimbursement accuracy.
  • Establish and maintain standardized denial categorization and feedback loops that connect denial outcomes to front-end and mid-cycle process improvements.
  • Partner with coding, CDI, payer relations, customer service and operational teams to prevent recurrence and improve ongoing revenue capture.

Operational Excellence and Performance Analytics
  • Lead end-to-end execution of revenue cycle performance improvement initiatives, from opportunity identification through implementation and sustainment with patient impact goals and revenue goals.
  • Apply structured process improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, FMEA, root-cause analysis) to evaluate current-state workflows, design future-state processes, and reduce variation, waste, and rework.
  • Build, monitor and interpret core revenue cycle KPIs to identify where performance is lagging and why, using data to prioritize high-impact improvement efforts for both patients and revenue cycle.
  • Develop and maintain practical scorecards and performance reporting to track results, validate improvement impact, and guide ongoing optimization.
  • Identify and support automation and digital enablement opportunities in partnership with IT and EMR resources that reduce patient burden and strengthens revenue outcomes.

Cross-Functional Collaboration, Training and Change Management
  • Partners with operational, clinical, finance, IT, and compliance leaders to ensure improvement initiatives are operationally feasible, improve the patient journey and revenue cycle end-to-end, and are effectively implemented.
  • Oversee revenue cycle education to align training and reinforcement with redesigned workflows and performance objectives.
  • Provide subject-matter expertise to support instructional materials and targeted training related to process changes.
  • Reinforce adoption through coaching, standard work documentation, quick-reference tools, and simple audit mechanisms tied to KPI outcomes.

Leadership, Project Management and Communication
  • Serve as project manager for revenue cycle initiatives and system-related changes, defining scope, milestones, risks, and expected benefits.
  • Provide clear, concise communication of insights, recommendations, and results to leadership and operational stakeholders.
  • Ensure improvement initiatives include defined success measures and benefit realization tracking.
  • Provide guidance, prioritization, mentoring, and performance feedback to assigned professional staff supporting analytics, education, and improvement efforts.
  • Operate as a player-coach, demonstrating leadership through influence and personal contribution while promoting alignment, accountability, and consistency across revenue cycle operations.
