Job Summary
The Motivation Lab (Principal Investigator: Dr. David Conroy, PhD) in the School of Kinesiology is seeking a full-time Clinical Research Coordinator Associate. The Motivation Lab is a dynamic learning community founded in shared values of collaboration, competence, and creativity. Our goal is to move people to live healthier and happier lives. We develop, evaluate and refine evidence-based approaches, often delivered via wearable, connected and mobile technologies, to make health behavior change enjoyable and efficient. Our Clinical Research Coordinators are responsible for executing and revising a set of protocols for participant-facing and back-end clinical trial functions. The individual in this role will execute protocols developed by the Principal Investigator, work with study participants, and collaborate with the study team to ensure the development and implementation of consistent system standards. The successful candidate will be reliable, conscientious, organized, interpersonally-skilled, and able to work effectively under supervision.
Responsibilities*
(EF) = Essential Function
Recruitment & Data Collection (EF; 35%)
  • Executing daily study operations by recruiting and retaining participants
  • Conducting outcome assessments per protocol
  • Managing and maintaining subject and laboratory study data
  • Troubleshooting and solving routine problems for participants to preserve the integrity of the studies

Clinical Trial Management & Administration (EF; 25%)
  • Supporting regulatory compliance by following institutional policies
  • Assisting with the coordination of scheduling for studies and related procedures
  • Assisting with lab operations, including safety measures and record keeping
  • Processing participant compensation and assisting with basic purchasing

Trial Reporting (EF; 25%)
  • Monitoring and reporting on study progress
  • Assisting with data collection for project reporting, including safety monitoring and reports to funders

Relationship Management (10%)
  • Supporting internal and external communications
  • Collaborating with clinical decision support teams and stakeholders to ensure consistent system standards

Other Duties as Assigned (5%)
Required Qualifications*
  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • A minimum of 1 year of related research coordination or equivalent experience is required
  • Experience with or interest in human subjects research
  • Microsoft Office proficiency
  • Basic experience with spreadsheet or database management (Excel, REDCap)
  • Basic descriptive statistics and data visualization using statistical software (e.g., R, SAS, SPSS)
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills for interacting with research participants and staff
  • Proven ability to contribute to a positive workplace culture and demonstrate the school's core values

Desired Qualifications*
  • 2 years of related research coordination or equivalent experience
  • Experience with health behavior research using digital technology (wearables, mobile devices, internet)
  • Experience with clinical trials focused on physical activity, water intake, or other healthy behaviors
  • Basic familiarity with remote data capture software (e.g. REDCap, Qualtrics)
  • Interest in behavior change techniques
  • Basic proficiency in statistical software (e.g. R, SAS, SPSS)
  • Comfort level with AI tools

Additional Information
