Job description

Duties * Directs and supervises security guard operations through subordinate supervisors to ensure protection of personnel, government property, and installation facilities. * Oversees installation access control operations, including control of personnel and vehicle entry/exit at access control points. * Plans, assigns, and evaluates the work of subordinate supervisors and security guards across multiple shifts.

* Ensures enforcement of federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and installation security policies. * Develops and administers security guard training programs involving weapons handling, emergency response, traffic control, search and seizure procedures, and use of force. * Coordinates security operations and maintains liaison with federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies.

* Conducts inspections of guard personnel, weapons, equipment, and security procedures to ensure compliance with established standards. * Reviews incident reports and ensures corrective actions are taken for security violations, irregularities, or emergency situations. * Manages personnel actions including performance evaluations, leave administration, disciplinary actions, hiring recommendations, and employee development.

* Develops staffing, manpower, and budget requirements for guard operations and related equipment/resources. * Responds to and directs actions during emergencies, disturbances, criminal incidents, accidents, and security threats. * Oversees patrol operations of restricted and controlled access areas to ensure installation security and protection of classified materials.

* Supervises use of electronic intrusion detection systems, radios, traffic control devices, and other security equipment. * Makes operational decisions involving security procedures, workforce adjustments, and mission requirements to maintain effective security coverage. * Ensures compliance with physical security standards and installation emergency management plans.

Requirements Conditions of employment * Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. * This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. * This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.

* This position is subject to a pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident. * This position has been designated "Mission Essential". * The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S.

states or possessions to operate vehicles. Loss of license may result in removal from the position. * This position is subject to the provisions of the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban commonly referred to as the Lautenberg Amendment.

* This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. * Due to the nature of this position, employees are required to work both planned and unscheduled overtime. * This position requires certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

* This position requires the employee to wear chemical protection masks, gloves, and other protective equipment, and may be required to be certified in the use of aerosol irritants and baton. * Incumbent must be able to obtain and sustain state certification for operating the NCIC terminals. * Employee will be assessed under the Individual Reliability Program.

* Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. * A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed. * Must be proficient in the use of assigned firearms/weapons, must qualify semi-annually thereafter in the use of assigned firearms/weapons.

* Employee must be able to perform as a member of the installation's overall security response capability. * Must wear the Department of the Army Security Guard (DASG) uniform IAW AR 190-56, maintain a high state of appearance and hygiene. * See additional Conditions of Employment under the Additional Information section.

Qualifications Who May Apply: US Citizens: In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Specialized Experience: To qualify based on your work experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job.

Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled, such as: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-08 level in the Federal service: assigning work in terms of organizational objectives, assignments, set priorities, and deadlines to subordinate employees; performing managerial and administrative duties relating to the security guard force; developing manning and budget requirements for Guard operations; and overseeing the protection of government and personal property, control of access of personnel and vehicles to the installation, support of the implementation of emergency plans, and patrolling of restricted and limited access areas. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: If you are a current, Federal employee, you must include your pay plan, series and grade in your work experience(s) on your resume submission and/or upload supporting documentation (within-grade increase SF50) to show that you meet the time-in-grade requirement. In addition, if your step reflects '00', you must include your current salary for each position.

For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
