Job description

Senior Treasury Analyst (FX)

The Senior Treasury Analyst is responsible for supporting Western Union's global foreign exchange (FX) risk management activities, including currency hedging, liquidity planning, market analysis, and treasury operations. This role partners with Treasury, Accounting, Finance, Legal, Technology, and business teams to help manage foreign currency exposures, optimize funding strategies, and ensure compliance with regulatory and internal control requirements. The position plays a key role in maintaining efficient treasury operations, supporting global payment flows, and delivering insights that improve financial performance and risk management across the organization.

Role Responsibilities
  • Implementation and management of currency hedging programs for new product and service offerings.
  • Help manage all foreign exchange bank relationships and ensure efficient sourcing of foreign currencies.
  • Forecast underlying currency needs and ensure proper funding is in place to facilitate consumer transactions.
  • Manage and benchmark the wholesale FX rates used to price consumer money transfers.
  • The role will involve interaction with key stakeholder groups including regional business teams, corporate and settlement accounting teams, and technology teams.
  • Support internal and external stakeholder groups and provide education regarding foreign exchange markets, and risk hedging programs.
  • Ensure compliance with all key SOX controls.
  • Help maintain group policies and procedures governing FX risk management.
  • Ensure compliance with all global derivative regulatory frameworks (examples include Dodd Frank and EMIR).
  • Work in close cooperation with Legal and Business teams to ensure compliance with local currency regulations and capital controls.
  • Help configure and maintain information in corporate Treasury Workstation.
  • Leverage automation and process improvement tools (e.g. Power Automate, Alteryx, etc) to optimize FX risk hedging, reduce manual work, and minimize errors.
  • Develop deep understanding of Western Union pricing and settlement mechanics to assist business teams and other stakeholders to address complex ad hoc queries and issues.
  • Create and distribute various FX reports to key stakeholder groups.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in Treasury, Foreign Exchange (FX), Capital Markets, Corporate Finance, Banking, or a related financial discipline.
  • 3+ years of experience working with foreign exchange markets, currency exposure management, or FX hedging programs.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including financial analysis, reporting, and data management.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience supporting treasury operations, liquidity management, cash management, or financial risk management activities.
  • 3+ years of experience partnering with internal stakeholders across Finance, Accounting, Treasury, Legal, Technology, or business functions.
  • 3+ years of experience using financial reporting, treasury, trading, or data analysis tools to support decision-making and operational activities.
  • Experience supporting global treasury operations within a multinational organization.
  • Experience with foreign exchange derivatives, hedging instruments, and risk management frameworks.
  • Experience working with Treasury Management Systems (TMS) or Treasury Workstations.
  • Knowledge of SOX controls, treasury governance, and financial compliance requirements.
  • Familiarity with Dodd-Frank, EMIR, or other derivatives and financial market regulations.
  • Experience leveraging automation and analytics tools such as Power Automate, Alteryx, Power BI, SQL, or similar platforms.
  • Professional certifications such as CFA, CTP, FRM, CPA, or progress toward certification.

The base salary range is $89,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year, total on target compensation includes a base salary plus annual incentives that align with individual and company performance. Actual salaries will vary based on candidates' qualifications, skills, and competencies.
