Indirect Funding SpecialistACCOUNTABILITY STATEMENT
The Indirect Lending Funding Specialist is responsible for verifying loan stipulations, confirming that all loan approval conditions have been met, and performing quality control reviews of loans and related documentation originated through indirect lending channels.
The indirect lending channel supports the origination of automobile, motorcycle, recreational vehicle, and marine loans while driving service excellence and achieving portfolio performance objectives. This channel is a major contributor to key and critical growth goals of the organization and significantly impacts corporate objectives for loan portfolio growth, interest income, non-interest income, member growth, and member satisfaction. The incumbent is responsible for working with vendors, members, and dealers to facilitate loan funding in the acquisition of open stipulations. The incumbent must demonstrate and exhibit the ability to build and maintain strong dealer loyalty, support, and relationships with dealership partners. The incumbent is also responsible for the post-closing review of all documentation and all applicable loan fields within the core system. This encompasses the completion of loan documentation required for closed end indirect loans, VyStar policies, procedures and in accordance with all lending regulations. All documents must be reviewed for accuracy, and loans must be funded and boarded to the core processing system correctly. The incumbent must remain up to date on all VyStar policies and procedures and on Regulation changes. The incumbent must have excellent member service skills and be able to incorporate people, processes, and technology to maximize the loan closing experience for the dealers and to facilitate an increase in loan funding's resulting in positive loan growth for the credit union.

JOB DUTIES

  • Requires strong negotiation skills to work with dealer partners and vendors to facilitate loan closings with multiple indirect products and to ensure that all loan documents are completed accurately and meet regulatory requirements.
  • Quality control of all loan documentation and verification that all required disclosures have been executed to ensure compliance and regulatory requirements have been met.
  • Responsible for processing the indirect loan volume that is acquired through the indirect ending channels to include auto, motorcycle, recreational vehicles and marine products.
  • Ensure the General Ledgers for Indirect lending are balanced and reconciled monthly. Maintain a thorough understanding of state and federal laws and regulations related to lending and credit union compliance including Patriot Act, Truth in Lending, Reg B, Reg Z, Bank Secrecy Act and Anti-Money Laundering laws as appropriate to the position.
  • Identify red flags in loan documentation to identify and resolve potential fraud concerns.
  • Act as primary contact in high volume production area for dealerships on all loan processing items, funding and problem resolution matters.
  • Maintain and build strong rapport and effectively manage multiple dealer relationships, third-party partnerships, and potential members to positively represent and promote the credit union.
  • Assist appropriate departments and dealers to resolve any discrepancies or issues with Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) process as related to dealer loan funding.
  • Responsible for the daily funding report and reviewing the corresponding loan documents housed within the document imaging system of the third-party indirect vendor for accuracy and completeness.
  • Audit retail installment sales contracts for correct loan approval amount, interest rate, and loan term to ensure compliance with the approved terms and conditions for the loan have been met.
  • Responsible for daily post-closing quality assurance review of funded loans in the core system.
  • Clear stipulations on pending loans through verification of income, verification of membership applications and missing documentation. Maintain detailed loan notes by documenting compliance reviews, verification activities, outstanding issues, and resolution efforts to ensure accurate records and timely issue resolution.
  • Conduct income verification.
  • Responsible for creating new accounts and dealer records in the core system for new dealers added by the third-party indirect vendor.
  • Provides account services including verifying personal identification to protect the member's and VyStar's position and to prevent fraudulent activity.
  • Provides regulatory disclosure information on new and other specific types of accounts.
  • Responsible for unwinding loans funded in error and sending problem resolution forms to the third-party indirect vendor.
  • Responsible for processing all indirect loan adjustments including chargebacks, rate buy downs, short funds etc.
  • Reviews titling documentation and works to ensure units do not have branded or salvaged titles.
  • All employees and business units, as first line of defense, are expected to proactively help identify, assess, manage, and report risks within their domain of work. To enhance a healthy risk culture and support our growth for good pillar, employees will maintain vigilance in safeguarding our operations while ensuring compliance with regulatory mandates. The Risk team serves as the second line of defense by providing risk oversight and credible challenge whereas the Audit team serves as the third line of defense by providing risk assurance.

Incumbent is expected to demonstrate each of the following VyStar Excellence behaviors in performing the duties and responsibilities of their job.

Supervision Received

Work assignments are 60% standard or well structured, 15% determined by Dealer Services and Indirect Funding Supervisor, and 25 % determined by incumbent.

Judgement

The incumbent must organize tasks and set priorities to minimize delays in reviewing loan documents and funding indirect loan contracts. Reviews retail installment contracts and loan documentation to ensure collateral and lien position information is accurate and correct.

Effect of Error

The Indirect Lending Funding Specialist performs quality assurance checks on the loan repayment method, interest rate and term. Further reviews new account and loan documentation for accuracy and completeness. Failure to correct these items could result in a violation of lending regulations, billing errors and delinquency. Errors in loan documentation could cause inability to perfect lien on collateral, which would jeopardize VyStar's ability to collect on loans and increase possible losses if a loan becomes delinquent and is charged off. Time required to correct the error would vary with the length of time required to obtain corrected signed documents from the member.

Public Relations

The incumbent has daily contact with Dealer, Branch Originator Staff, Contact Center, Indirect Lenders, third-party vendor staff, VyStar staff, and with members. The incumbent will need to exhibit and demonstrate excellent communication skills in all interactions with dealers, peers, and members. The incumbent must ensure that all written and verbal communication is professional and exemplifies the professional standard of VyStar Excellence behaviors.

Job Qualifications and Education

Required:

  • Up to 3 years of experience with indirect lending or dealer relationship management or loan funding within a financial institution preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • ACH and general ledger reconciliation experience to facilitate dealer funding and settlement transactions on a daily-basis and to ensure compliance with ACH regulations preferred.
  • Proficient with CRIF Select, and Lend Pro origination systems, core processing systems with knowledge of FSBA/InterACT/ATLAS preferred.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Must have the ability to handle confidential material in a highly ethical manner.
  • Knowledge of legal requirements for consumer loan documentation, including review of power attorney forms for collateralized loans.
  • Must consistently demonstrate a courteous, tactful professional, personable, and friendly communication style with a focus on member and dealer service and an ability to interact with all levels of individuals on the phone and in person. Must show concern and respect for others in all interactions and inspire confidence and trust with members, dealers, and co-workers.
