Fund Development Manager
What We Do
YESS is a not-for-profit agency working with youth facing difficult realities. Based in Edmonton, our Youth Support Centre provides immediate and low-barrier 24/7 sleep support and individualized wrap-around supports for young people aged 15 -24.
We work collaboratively within a network of care, focused on the prevention of youth homelessness by providing youth with the necessary supports to stabilize their housing, improve their wellbeing, build life skills, connect with community, and avoid re-entry into homelessness.

What You Will Do
Reporting to the ChiefDevelopmentOfficer,the Fund Development Manageris responsible forleading individual donor focusedfundraisinginitiatives. Key to the role is the responsibility for developingand fosteringindividual donor relationships to grow andretaina sustainable foundation of support for the organization.This further includes participating and executing campaigns related to individual giving.
Within the framework of individual giving, this roleis responsible forexecutingthe organization's development strategyin alignment withthe vision, mission, values of the organization
This role directly supervisestwo development team members, which includesdaily oversight of key responsibilities and provides, coaching and mentoring, and performance managementasrequired.
Hours of Work:Full-Time (40 hours per week, onsite Monday to Friday)
Key Responsibilities
Relationship Building- 40%
- This roleis responsible forcultivating and growing new individualdonor relationships through proactive engagement and in-person stewardship opportunities.
- This includes meeting one on one with individual donors to gain a better understanding of their philanthropic interests and motivations with a goal of cultivating ongoing YESS support.
- Ensures donor contact is personalizedthrough a muti-channel approach i.e. one on ones, letters, phone calls ina timelyand professional manner
- Conduct regular portfolio reviews to ensure that donor relationships are advancing, and donor development activities are on track.
- Utilizes individual donor relationships toidentifyexternal opportunities to build community partnerships in collaboration with Corporate Givingand/or grants and foundations.
Executing and tracking campaigns- 40%
- As directed by the CDO, coordinate and manage timelines andlogisticsforvarious campaignsto ensure individual giving is cultivated and plans areconductedin a timely mannerwith a focus on acquisition and retention of individual donors and graduating them to higher levels of engagement and support.
- Prepare and coordinate the creation of various fundraising materials such as proposals, briefing notes, presentations, letters, and other documentation to support effective donorengagement.
- Throughout each campaign, review progress and analyze results as to why the campaign is succeeding and/or not on track to achieve funding targetstoadjust the campaign inastimelymanner as possible. Specifically examine whytheindividual actively became involved and what their motivation was forparticipatingand/or giving.
- Recommend adjustments to the CDO when campaigns require change, including providing concrete plans to address the deficiencies.
- This role will typicallybe responsible forcampaigns such as, but not limited to: The Walk for YESS, Giving Tuesday, Monthly Giving, PlannedGiving, and the Annual Year-End Campaign.
- The role isexpectedto work collaboratively with the corporate giving team and thedatabasespecialist whenexecuting campaignsand analyzingtheresults.
- Generate weekly contact reportsidentifyingdonors and progress made and outlining potential opportunities for increased giving and/or better understanding of thedonor'sneeds in relation to giving.
- Responsible for management and stewarding of all individual donors with metrics developed and reported annually for growth and retention rates.
Team Leadership- 20%
- As the Fund Development Managerthis role will provide day-to-day leadership and direction to the development team members by fostering a culture of continuous improvement, professional growth, and high performance.
- The role will develop goals and KPIs for each team and teammember andhold these teams accountable through ongoing individual and team feedback and coaching and continuous learning.
- Responsible for team culture and engagement within the development team andfacilitatingthat across the organization.
- Provide support and guidance to Strategic Coordinator - Executive Officeregardingvolunteer program management.

Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in a related field combined with a minimum of 3 yearsof experience workinginfund development.
- Experience mustdemonstratestrong individual donor stewardship skills.
- Supervisory experience will be considered an asset.
- Project management skills related to campaign execution is highly desirable.
- Previousexperience willdemonstratethe ability to analyze donor data for the purpose ofidentifyingtrends and setting newobjectives.
- Proficiencywithcomputer programs such as Microsoft Office, Outlook andRaiser's Edge or comparable donor databasepreferred.

- Clear police clearance (PIC) and a Child Intervention (CIRC) check, both obtained within the last six months.
