Job description

I'm working on a Fund Controller opportunity with a leading alternative asset manager based in Miami. This is a highly visible role supporting the continued growth of the firm's retail credit platform, including a Private BDC and Interval Fund focused on CLO debt.

The firm manages approximately $10 billion in investable capital and specializes in middle-market private credit.


The Opportunity

The Fund Controller will work closely with senior Finance leadership and take significant ownership of the accounting, financial reporting, and oversight of the firm's Private BDC and Interval Fund.

This is a hands-on position for someone who understands the broader fund accounting function and can effectively manage administrators and service providers while maintaining ownership internally.


Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee accounting and financial reporting for a Private BDC and Interval Fund
  • Manage third-party fund administrators, accountants, custodians, and other service providers
  • Own management fee and incentive fee calculations, fund expenses, and accruals
  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting under U.S. GAAP
  • Oversee SEC filings including 10-Q, 10-K, 8-K, N-PORT, N-CEN, and N-CSR
  • Coordinate quarterly reviews and annual audits
  • Maintain and strengthen SOX controls and regulatory reporting processes
  • Prepare management reporting, Board materials, and compliance reporting
  • Partner across Investment, Operations, Treasury, Valuation, Compliance, and Investor Relations
  • Drive process improvements and automation across the fund accounting function


Ideal Background

  • 7+ years of progressive fund accounting/financial services experience
  • Strong asset management or private fund accounting background
  • Experience with BDCs, Interval Funds, 40 Act funds, registered funds, private credit, or closed-end funds
  • SEC and regulatory reporting experience strongly preferred
  • Experience overseeing third-party fund administrators
  • Strong understanding of management and incentive fee calculations
  • CPA strongly preferred
  • Experience with WSO, Geneva, Investran, SimCorp, Advent, or similar systems
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
