This Opportunity
WSP is currently initiating a search for Senior Project Manager for our Salt Lake City, UT office. The following locations will also be considered: Phoenix, AZ; Helena, MT or Lakewood, CO. Be involved in projects with our US Mining Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client's objectives and solves their challenges.
In this role you will provide project management, project engineering, and project controls leadership for mining, mineral processing, metals, industrial water treatment, chemical processing, and heavy industrial projects across North America and internationally. Responsible for overall project delivery including financial, technical, client satisfaction, quality, safety, and schedule. You will ensure that responsibilities throughout the project lifecycle (proposal phase, project startup and planning, project execution, reporting, and project closeout) are completed to WSP and industry best standards for safety, execution, operational excellence, and profitability.

Your Impact
  • Oversee and monitor cross-functional teams of technical professionals and subject matter experts to deliver multiple concurrent projects. Responsible for leading and monitoring scope, schedule, and budget. Responsible for overall project performance and key performance indicators such as SPI, CPI, engineering schedule, forecasting, resource utilization, etc.
  • Lead project teams delivering engineering studies, detailed engineering, EPCM, Owner's Engineer, and other consulting delivery models, ensuring alignment with Client objectives, project governance requirements, and industry standards. Projects may include mining infrastructure, mineral processing facilities, hydrometallurgical plants, water treatment facilities, tailings storage facilities, and other major industrial developments.
  • Develop sufficient technical understanding of each understanding discipline to effectively facilitate interdisciplinary coordination, identify project risks and interface issues, and support decision making throughout project execution. Disciplines include process, mechanical, piping, electrical, instrumentation and controls, civil, structural, geotechnical, water resources, and environmental.
  • Support business development including client relationship management, proposal development, project pursuits, contract negotiations, and resource planning.
  • Establish and actively drive the appropriate levels of technical review required for the project, selecting appropriately qualified staff to perform the required reviews, and adherence to the QA/QC plan, as applicable.
  • Develop and update the Project Initiation/Setup Documentation including: Risk (REF/RMP), Project Management Plan (PMP), Project Quality Plan (QP), Project Safety (PSP), and Communications Plan, as necessary.
  • Complete formal project closeout activities, along with conducting and documenting a lessons-learned meeting with key project staff.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Who You Are
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, science, or a related major, or equivalent experience in a technical or engineering firm.
  • 5-10 years of relevant experience in a project engineering, project management, engineering management role within the Mining, Mineral Processing, Industrial Water Treatment, or Oil & Gas industries.
  • Proficient understanding of project delivery process within the architecture, engineering, and construction industry and strong background and experience in project management.
  • Highly proficient interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively, persuasively, and tactfully with leadership, clients, subcontractors, and employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Experience being responsible for project financial performance and tracking and reporting on expenditures as well as forecasting estimated costs to complete.
  • Self- motivated with excellent verbal/written communication, problem solving, conflict resolution and decision-making skills.
  • Proficiency with technical writing, office automation, relevant software, MS Office suite products (e.g., Word, Excel, Visio, Project, SharePoint), technology, spreadsheets, and PM tools.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
  • Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements. Average expected travel is below 25%.
  • Must pass background check and be authorized for work in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in Engineering.
  • Certifications preferred: (PE, PMP, MBA etc.).

Compensation:
Expected Salary (Colorado only): $86,100 - $128,500
WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and/or offer for this position within the state of Colorado, based on the successful applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location.
