Summary:
The Radiology Manager will assist Radiology Administration team with the operational, financial and personnel activities of the Radiology Department and Imaging Centers. The Radiology Manager will also assist with the compliance of all JCAHO standards, help maintain section competencies and confirm credentials stay current and up to date. The Manager will actively participate with Performance Improvement projects and communicate necessary information to staff members.
POSITION EDUCATION/ QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Graduate of an accredited radiology program.
  • Current state certification (TDH) required.
  • Current American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT) general certification required.
  • BLS certification preferred.
  • Must be sensitive to cultural and bilingual issues.
  • Secretarial experience and organizational skills are necessary.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English required. Spanish preferred.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with all levels of nursing, administration, and physicians.
  • Hospital experience preferred
  • Computer knowledge required

Responsibilities:
  • Promotes the facility mission, vision, and values by effectively communicating them to others.
  • Considers mission, vision, and values in developing services, standards, and practices.
  • Provides leadership, direction, coordination, and administration to the Radiology department.
  • Leads by example to motivate employees (servant leadership).
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure the delivery of quality services.
  • Provide support to patients and staff by mediating and resolving any issues between care providers, radiology staff, medical staff, and patients.
  • Performs service recovery with patient or physician concerns or issues with the patient's best interest in mind and maintaining the organization's reputation for providing excellent service to every patient, every time..
  • Coordinate daily and/or weekly staff huddles to address and resolve any issues that impact service provision
  • Oversee day-to-day operations on the staff floor, including review of patient schedules for accuracy and timeliness of procedures.
  • Provides radiology services by directing and coordinating radiology and diagnostic imaging procedures; overseeing staff in the operation of imaging equipment in all modalities, including but not limited to x-ray (XR), fluoroscopy (FL), computerized tomography (CT), ultrasound (US), mammography (MG), nuclear medicine (NM), and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).
  • Continuously walk through procedural areas and monitor workflow.
  • Assist in meeting budgetary targets by contributing to cost savings in operating costs (i.e. reducing overtime, cost savings initiatives).
  • Participates in department measures and contributes to improving balanced scorecard outcomes.
  • Assists in the management of staffing hours and reduction of overtime hours.
  • Able to perform the necessary functions on the facility's computer system.
  • Accountable for ordering departmental supplies as necessary.
  • Coordinates department orientation of new employees.
  • Provides continuous training and communicates changes to employees.
  • Oversee and mentor radiology students and staff by assigning and scheduling clinical rounds and training.
  • Recommends changes in department policies and procedures to upper management.
  • Maintain Texas Department of Health (TDH), American College of Radiology (ACR), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and Joint Commission (JC) standards, including cleanliness of work and procedural areas, all logs are filled out thoroughly, and equipment is in functional order.
  • Represent and participate in appropriate hospital committee activities.
  • Actively participates in performance improvement activities.
  • Maintains employee files according to state, federal, HIPAA, Joint Commission, ACR, and department guidelines and policies.
  • Responsible for maintaining employee compliance, including reminding staff and obtaining copies of licenses and credentials, employee health requirements, and hospital-issued continuing education requirements.
  • Oversee and assist with equipment downtime and service work order updates with radiology administration to minimize downtime.
  • Assist the Radiation safety officer with routine duties.
  • Assist with employee performance evaluations.
  • Responsible for the annual performance of N-95 fit testing.
  • Processes and approves PTO requests submitted by staff.
  • Responsible for staff and on-call schedules.
  • Responsible for providing weekly reports and updates to radiology administration.
  • Other duties as assigned.

JOB KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum Four-Six (4-6) years' experience in an acute care hospital as Radiologic Technologist.
  • Three (3) years' experience as a supervisor/manager
  • Able to demonstrate competent levels of various radiological modalities.
  • Registered in at least one (1) additional modality preferred (i.e. CT, MRI, IR, NM, US)
  • Demonstrates accuracy and the ability to follow established procedures closely.
  • Requires reasoning ability and good independent judgment.
  • Requires working with frequent interruptions.
  • Must project a professional image.
  • Must have excellent customer service skills.
  • Requires critical thinking, good communication, and strong organizational skills.

CUSTOMER SERVICE:
Provide excellent customer service to all DHR customers. All employees are required to attend the DHR C.A.R.E.S program which outlines the Customer Service Principals including: Commitment, Accountability, Respect, Excellence and Service.
AGE SPECIFIC:
Employees must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served in his/her assigned unit. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirement relative to his or her age.
