The Landscape Designer role will develop creative and functional landscape designs for residential and commercial projects, working closely with clients and the installation team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong design aptitude, excellent communication and presentation skills, a solid understanding of horticultural principles and construction fundamentals, and a passion for creating beautiful, sustainable outdoor spaces.

Key Responsibilities:

Design, Sales & Client Engagement:

  • Lead, manage, and complete the landscape design process from start to finish with minimal supervision.
  • Developing creative and functional landscape design concepts.
  • Conducting site analyses and client consultations to understand project goals, site conditions, and client preferences.
  • Preparing compelling presentation materials, including sketches, conceptual drawings, and material selections, to effectively communicate design ideas to clients.
  • Collaborating closely with clients throughout the design process, incorporating feedback, and ensuring their satisfaction.
  • Ensuring designs adhere to relevant local codes and regulations.
  • Collaborate with the sales specialist to sell landscape design and construction contracts.
  • Collaborate and support the project manager throughout the construction process.

Technical Development & Implementation Support:

  • Using Vectorworks, SketchUp, and Lumion, develop creative, functional designs, including site plans, planting plans, hardscape details, and construction documents.
  • Developing preliminary cost estimates and assisting with material sourcing.
  • Working effectively with the installation team to ensure accurate implementation of the design intent.
  • Maintaining organized project files and documentation.
  • Staying current with industry trends, plant materials, and design software.
Requirements:


  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Landscape Design, Horticulture, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in high-end residential landscape design or a strong portfolio of relevant design work.
  • 3+ years of experience using Vectorworks, SketchUp, and Lumion design software.
  • Preferred proficiency in AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, and with Trimble GPS equipment and software.
  • Strong knowledge of zone 4 plant materials, horticultural principles, and sustainable design practices relevant to the New England region.
  • Strong understanding of landscape construction methods, techniques, materials, and site grading.
  • Basic understanding of New Hampshire Shoreland and Wetlands regulations.
  • Strong graphic communication and visual presentation skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present design concepts clearly.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • A valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs or more, stand for extended periods, and perform repetitive tasks.

Availability Requirements

  • Monday-Friday, 7:30 AM - 4:30 PM weekends as needed for client meetings.
