Job description

IT (Software) Project Manager – Chicago

As a critical member of the PMO team, you will be responsible for ensuring the timely delivery of projects, initiatives, and activities across multiple data- and technology-related work streams. You will support technology leadership and various business units in ensuring timely delivery of key projects and initiatives. You will also play an important role in informing leadership and technology stakeholders on milestone execution, issues, and risks. You will compile, prepare, and present information for project and program updates and presentations. Additionally, you will help build mechanisms for monitoring the overall program progress, coordinate and drive the operational areas of technology projects through implementation. The PMO team will ensure effective partnership with internal and external stakeholders to effectively deliver key initiatives.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Plan, lead, coordinate, and monitor activities of one or more projects covering all phases of the project life cycle ranging from project initiation to implementation.
  • Drive close project collaboration across business, technology, and third-party teams to deliver projects that are on time, on budget, and in scope with strong stakeholder alignment and buy-in leveraging a project delivery framework.
  • Collaborate with project teams to define project scope, deliverables, and corresponding project governance & decision gating to minimize risks, ensure success, and effectively meet strategic objectives.
  • Partner with cross functional project task owners to develop detailed timelines, identify interdependencies, manage & track progress, and proactively surface issues and risks address on-going progress, issues, risks, delivery outcomes, etc.
  • Enable and motivate project teams into high functioning collaborators by leveraging effective project communication, documentation, meeting facilitation, and timely issue management.
  • Track project related costs against budget and forecast and provide cost transparency to all stakeholders.
  • Complete special projects as requested.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills We're Seeking
  • Bachelor's Degree, ideally in an IT related field
  • 5+ years of experience with IT Project Management, with a focus on software projects
  • Agile experience
  • Experience with PM tools such as MS Projects, MS Server, Plainview, Niku Client, or Wrike, Airtable, Smartsheets, Clarity, Primavera
Bonus Skills
  • Experience working in a PMO
  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM) certification
  • PMP, CAPM, or other relevant project management certification(s) a plus
  • Knowledge in collaboration tools such as MS Teams and SharePoint preferred
  • Experience in usage of JIRA, ADO, Confluence preferred
