Many window cleaners also charge per window or project, which can impact overall earnings.

How many hours a week do window cleaners work?

Full-time window cleaners typically work around 35 to 40 hours per week, often following a standard daytime schedule. Overtime may be required during busy periods or for special projects, and some positions may involve early mornings or weekends depending on client needs.

Do you need a license to clean windows?

Full time window cleaners typically do not need a specific license to perform their work, but some regions may require business licenses or permits. Additionally, safety training and proper use of equipment are important for compliance and safety standards.

What are some common challenges faced by full-time window cleaners, and how are they typically addressed?

Full-time window cleaners often encounter challenges such as working at heights, dealing with adverse weather conditions, and ensuring safety while using ladders or scaffolding. To address these, most companies provide thorough safety training, supply appropriate personal protective equipment, and enforce strict adherence to safety protocols. Additionally, window cleaners usually work in teams to ensure both efficiency and safety, especially when handling large or complex buildings. Open communication and regular safety briefings help maintain a supportive and secure work environment.

How much do window washers get paid hourly?

This is a hands-on field leadership role for someone with strong experience in siding, windows, gutters, trim, flashing, doors, or exterior remodeling. You will help guide daily work on the job site while also performing installation work yourself.

The right person is an experienced exterior remodeling professional who can lead by example, keep a crew organized, solve job-site challenges, and make sure each project is completed safely, efficiently, and to Morin's quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and assist with installation of seamless gutters, downspouts, steel siding, vinyl siding, exterior trim, and flashing.
  • Install windows and doors so they are plumb, level, square, and properly weatherproofed.
  • Follow manufacturer specifications and company standards for weatherproofing and installation.
  • Measure, plan, cut, fit, and install materials accurately.
  • Keep job sites safe, clean, organized, and productive.
  • Direct daily field work, assign tasks, and help crew members stay on schedule.
  • Mentor and support crew members while promoting quality workmanship and teamwork.
  • Communicate with project managers, customers, office staff, and crew members about job progress, materials, and project needs.
  • Track time, job notes, materials, and documentation using JobNimbus and QuickBooks Workforce.
  • Represent Morin's professionally and respectfully on every project.

Qualifications

  • 5 or more years of residential exterior carpentry, siding, window, gutter, or remodeling experience.
  • Prior lead carpenter, crew lead, or field leadership experience preferred.
  • Ability to lead small crews, assign tasks, and maintain production schedules.
  • Strong measuring, layout, cutting, fitting, and installation skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and pride in doing the job right the first time.
  • Safety-focused approach to field work.
  • Comfortable working at heights and in enclosed spaces when required.
  • Valid driver's license and insurable driving record.
  • Willingness to use digital tools for time tracking, job notes, and documentation.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to coach others, build trust, and help maintain strong crew morale.
  • OSHA or related safety certification is a plus.
  • Flexible, team-oriented mindset with the ability to adapt and solve problems on-site.

Pay & Benefits

  • Full-time W2 employment.
  • $28-$36 per hour, based on experience.
  • Overtime pay available.
  • 401(k) with company match.
  • Paid time off and paid holidays.
  • Dental and vision insurance.
  • Short-term and long-term disability coverage.
  • Steady, year-round work with consistent project flow.
  • Company-provided tools, equipment, and uniform support.
  • Training and leadership development in systems, products, and field management.
  • Family-oriented, respectful work culture that values craftsmanship, leadership, and long-term growth.
