Job Description
This position is 75% of Family and Consumer Sciences and 25% 4-H Youth Development. Under the supervision of county Extension director, this agent will conduct the annual needs assessment, based on the needs along with the guidance from the county Extension Director, will plan, implement, evaluate, and report on educational programs in the following areas, but not limited to:
  • Human Development programs, such as parenting classes, collaborating with grandparents, raising grandchildren, anger management, and additional classes based on needs.
  • Nutrition and healthy eating classes for youth and adults.
  • Community health and safety programs, such as Fall Prevention, Cardio Drumming, Stay Strong Stay Healthy.
  • Youth and adult sewing programs.
  • Life skills programs for individuals in recovery.
  • Provide coaching for the 4-H Shooting Sports.
  • Leading and maintaining homeschool 4-H groups.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Family & Consumer Sciences, Food and Nutrition, Health Education, or a related discipline.
  • Candidates should demonstrate comprehensive knowledge and understanding in one or more Family and Consumer Sciences subject-matter areas, such as human nutrition, and food safety, family economics, human development, or community health and safety.
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills and the ability to work productively as a member of a collaborative team.
    Effective communication skills, with the ability to document, evaluate, and promote program outcomes and impacts.
    Proven leadership abilities, initiative, and the capacity to work independently while contributing to a collaborative work environment.
    Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and occasional overnight travel as needed. Must have access to reliable transportation and the ability to obtain and maintain a valid Tennessee driver's license.

Preferred qualifications:
  • Experience in Extension, teaching, research, or closely related work.
