Job description

AppFolio is more than a company. We're a community of dreamers, big thinkers, problem solvers, active listeners, and multipliers. At every opportunity, we set the pace while delivering innovation built to carry real estate into the future. One in which every experience feels effortless, yet meaningful. Where customers are empowered to take on any opportunity. We show up as one team, connected by our values to be a force for good. Because together, we have the power to create extraordinary outcomes for our customers, our communities, and ourselves.

We love where we work, and you can, too.

AppFolio is seeking a UX Designer to join FolioGuard, our integrated insurance platform within AppFolio's Real Estate Performance Management suite of software applications. FolioGuard connects property managers and residents through integrated insurance experiences, reducing compliance gaps, simplifying coverage verification, and enabling residents to get covered directly within the tenant portal. You'll be a core member of a dedicated cross-functional team, working across discovery, design, and validation to improve experiences that matter to both sides of this B2B2C ecosystem. FolioGuard moves fast and shifts priorities as the business evolves, so flexibility and curiosity are as important as craft.

The ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator, knowledgeable and eager to apply AI capabilities, comfortable in a fast-moving, data-driven organization, excited to collaborate with Software Engineers, Product Managers, and other UX Designers to build software solutions customers will love.

Your Impact:

  • Partner with Product and Engineering to understand user problems, define design opportunities, and deliver well-crafted solutions across FolioGuard workflows.

  • Conduct and facilitate user research, usability testing, and design validation to ensure solutions are grounded in real customer needs.

  • Design, run, and iterate on growth experiments, including A/B and multivariate tests to optimize key user flows and business outcomes.

  • Use AI-powered tools to accelerate research synthesis, prototyping, and delivery across the design process.

  • Communicate design rationale to cross-functional partners and drive shared understanding across disciplines.

  • Apply and actively contribute to our design system, ensuring UI consistency while helping evolve its components and patterns over time.

  • Adapt fluidly to shifting priorities, bringing structure and clarity to ambiguous problem spaces as the team's needs evolve.

Qualifications:

  • Strong user-centered product sense and curiosity, with a genuine passion for improving experiences in complex, multi-sided products that serve both businesses and their end customers.

  • Demonstrated experience with growth design: funnel analysis, A/B testing, experiment design, and using data to inform design decisions.

  • Proficiency with AI-powered design, with an appetite to push beyond basic applications to improve the speed and quality of design outcomes.

  • Ability to translate complex design rationale into clear, outcome-oriented communication for non-design stakeholders.

  • Familiarity with Agile and Lean UX methodologies in fast-moving, iterative environments.

  • A portfolio demonstrating your design process, problem-solving approach, and experience designing software product experiences.
