SUMMARY:
The Trauma Data Associate assists with routine activities associated with the Grady Health System Trauma Registry, including data gathering, data abstraction/entry/coding, data analysis, data validation and maintenance, reporting, and additional clerical duties such as filing, organizing, and assisting with meetings. In addition to serving as a liaison with other departments and outside agencies, the Trauma Data Associate supports relationships with, and submission of data to, the Georgia Department of Public Health Office of Emergency Medical Services and Trauma (OEMS&T), the National Trauma Data Bank (NTDB), and the Trauma Quality Improvement Program (TQIP) of the American College of Surgeons (ACS) for maintenance of state designation, national verification, as well as national benchmarking. The Trauma Data Associate may also assist with special projects under the direction of the Trauma Registry Manager (TRM), Trauma Program Director (TPD) and Trauma Medical Director (TMD).
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Two years college level course work or an Associate's Degree in Health Information Management (HIM) preferred.
  • Two (2) years registry related experience.With two (2) years college level course work or Associate's Degree no experience is required.
  • Two (2) years registry related experience.
  • With two (2) years college level course work or Associate's Degree no experience is required.
  • Two years of work experience that includes strong emphasis on data entry and analysis, previous trauma data experience, previous Trauma Registry/Report Writing experience.
  • Knowledge of Medical Terminology.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications.
  • Certification as a Certified Abbreviated Injury Scale Specialist (CAISS) within two years of hire.
  • ICD-10 and AIS coding familiarity preferred.
  • Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) Certification preferred.
