Operational Support & Maintenance

  • Maintain optimal water and chemical levels to ensure continuous production flow.
  • Maintain felt roll frames, and manage cull paper rolls, trash cans, paper bins, and other materialss to maintain cleanliness.
  • Assist in threading the paper machine, working safely in close proximity to moving equipment.
  • Operate a forklift truck safely and efficiently around fast-moving equipment.
  • Support paper machine operations by moving quickly in a hot environment (machine operates 50-70 feet per second.)
Quality Control & Data Management
  • Conduct paper tests on finished rolls to ensure product quality.
  • Accurately record production data for each roll produced on the paper machine using computer systems.
  • Cut and stack paper cores in their designated locations.
  • Adhere strictly to established processes to consistently produce high-quality products for customers.
Safety & Training
  • Prioritize personal safety by strictly adhering to all safety rules and procedures.
  • Follow lockout/tagout procedures diligently when cleaning or performing maintenance on equipment or in any other required area.
  • Maintain physical agility to move at a fast pace, climb stairs and ladders, and pull and remove paper from the dryer area of the paper machine.
Physical Requirements

You'll need to be able to:

  • Lift 10-50 lbs regularly and up to 75 lbs occasionally with help.
  • Stand for 10-12 hours on concrete floors.
  • Work at heights, including climbing stairs and ladders, and reach overhead.
  • Safely handle sharp tools like box cutters, knives, and saws.
  • Move frequently, including walking (sometimes at a fast pace), kneeling, and crouching.
  • Push, pull, and stand for extended periods on the production floor.
  • Exhibit strong manual dexterity for tasks like keyboard use, fine hand manipulation, and repetitive hand motions. You should also be able to detect different surfaces and heat sources by touch, and work with your arms extended in various directions, including above shoulder height.
  • Possess good vision (including color differentiation) and hearing to understand instructions and warnings in a noisy plant setting. You must also be able to safely navigate stairs and uneven flooring.
  • Work rotating shifts (36 or 48 hours per week), including both day and night shifts.
Work Environment

This position is in a manufacturing plant where you may encounter:

  • Loud noises, Hot and humid conditions, Airborne particulates like sawdust
  • Fast-moving machinery and equipment with moving parts
