Full Time Tech Stack information

What are some common challenges faced when working with a full-time tech stack role, and how can they be addressed?

In a full-time tech stack role, professionals often encounter challenges related to keeping up with rapidly evolving technologies, integrating new tools with legacy systems, and managing complex project requirements across multiple platforms. To address these, it's important to actively participate in continuous learning, collaborate closely with team members from various specialties, and leverage documentation and communication tools to streamline workflows. Regular code reviews and cross-functional meetings can also help ensure alignment and promote best practices across the stack.

What is the difference between Full Time Tech Stack vs Part Time Tech Stack?

AspectFull Time Tech StackPart Time Tech Stack
Work HoursTypically 35-40 hours per weekLess than 20 hours per week
Employment StatusFull-time employeePart-time employee or contractor
CredentialsOften requires relevant certifications or experienceMay require similar skills but less experience needed
Work EnvironmentIn-office or remote, integrated into teamFlexible, often remote or freelance

Full Time Tech Stack roles involve working standard hours as a dedicated employee, often with benefits and team integration. Part Time Tech Stack positions offer flexibility with fewer hours, suitable for freelancers or those balancing other commitments. Both roles require similar technical skills, but full-time roles typically demand more experience and certifications.

What is a Full Time Tech Stack?

A Full Time Tech Stack refers to the combination of programming languages, frameworks, libraries, and tools used by developers who work full-time in technology roles. This tech stack typically includes both front-end (client-side) and back-end (server-side) technologies that enable the development, deployment, and maintenance of software applications. The specific stack can vary by company or project, but common examples include the MERN stack (MongoDB, Express.js, React, Node.js) or LAMP stack (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP). Having a defined tech stack helps teams streamline development processes and maintain consistency across projects.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Full Stack Developer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Full Stack Developer, you need proficiency in both front-end (e.g., HTML, CSS, JavaScript frameworks) and back-end (e.g., Node.js, Python, databases) technologies, usually supported by a degree in computer science or relevant experience. Familiarity with version control systems like Git, cloud platforms, and containerization tools is commonly required, along with certifications such as AWS Certified Developer or Microsoft Azure certifications. Problem-solving ability, effective communication, and adaptability are critical soft skills that set top performers apart. These competencies are crucial for building robust, scalable applications and collaborating efficiently across teams in dynamic tech environments.

Job description

Ranger, Revolutionizing Software Testing
We're building Ranger to change the status quo of QA. Our mission is to power testing for the world's most ambitious engineering, product, and design teams so they can get back to building.
How We're Already Changing the Game:
Intelligent Test Generation
Leveraging advanced LLMs, we automatically generate reliable and efficient Playwright tests.
Self-Healing Tests
Our system proactively identifies and resolves flaky tests, ensuring consistent and reliable test suites.
Improved failure insights
Get automated failure reports with likely causes, and easy-to-follow steps to reproduce the issue.
Some of the fastest growing companies in the world (Clay, Suno, Dust, and more) use Ranger. We also collaborated with OpenAI, which you can read about here.
Join Our Team
To accelerate our mission we're incredibly excited to announce $8.9M in total funding over two rounds of funding led by XYZ and General Catalyst. Among the many other fantastic backers, they are joined by some of our earliest customers (Clay Co-founder Varun Anand, Suno Co-founder Martin Camacho, Dust Co-founder Stan Polu).
Let's fix the way software teams test their products. We're embarking on an exciting journey and we hope you join us as Ranger leads the way.
What we are looking for
  • Getting back on defense for each other: No one at Ranger works on an island. When someone needs to step out or gets overwhelmed, we reach out to help rather than look to blame. We always put the team above ourselves out of trust that our teammates would do the same.
  • Creative problem solving: we are an early stage start-up, everyone is expected to work together to solve problems even if it might not usually fall within your job description.
  • Pride in your work: it is still critical to be proud of the work you and your peers are producing. Our pride should stem from craftsmanship and the value it brings customers. Part of this is preferring code to be live over perfect and finding the right tradeoffs to get there.

What we are looking for in the role
  • 6-10+ years of professional experience in software engineering.
  • Strong desire to lead, execute, and own their own projects.
  • Track record of learning new languages, technologies, and patterns on the job.
  • Comfortable working and reasoning across the stack - frontend, backend, and infrastructure.
  • Willingness to work a hybrid schedule with a minimum of 3 days in-office.

What would set you apart
  • Experience at an early-stage startup
  • Experience with DOM parsing and manipulation
  • Familiarity with LLM APIs and experience using them in a production environment
  • Experience with any of our tech stack: Express+NodeJS, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Playwright, FFmpeg, GCP

What you should expect
  • An opportunity to influence company culture. We are just beginning to invest in our hybrid offices - we would look to partner with you to help establish our culture.
  • Technical leadership opportunities with an opportunity to drive green-field projects from infrastructure to frontend, ensuring its in our customers hands.
  • Trust, respect, and responsibility. We treat one another as the full people we are and trust one another to make decisions in consideration of ourselves, our teammates, and the company.

$130,000 - $200,000 a year
In addition to a base salary, employees will receive stock options.
Benefits for full-time team members include: Comprehensive medical, dental & vision plansPaid holidays & flexible paid time off (PTO)
*Pursuant to various state laws, we must display the pay range for this job. Since we are willing to hire within a broad spectrum of qualifications, we also reflect a broad pay range. The expected base salary range that we are targeting for this position can be adjusted up or down based on individual qualifications. Individual salary is determined by qualifications, role, level and location.
Note: Applicants must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.
