Job description:

Major Label Group is seeking a creative, detail-oriented Fashion Technical Designer to join our dynamic apparel team. The ideal candidate will have 3–5 years of experience in the fashion industry and a strong understanding of garment construction, fit development, pattern correction, grading, and product lifecycle management. This individual will play a key role in translating design concepts into production-ready garments while maintaining the highest standards of fit, quality, construction, and brand aesthetic.

The successful candidate will collaborate closely with Design, Product Development, Merchandising, Production, and overseas factories to ensure garments meet all technical, quality, and calendar requirements from development through bulk production.

Responsibilities

  • Measure all development, fit, and production samples according to Tech Pack specifications, documenting any measurements outside tolerance.
  • Review garment fit, balance, proportion, construction, and workmanship to ensure consistency across all product categories.
  • Evaluate fit on mannequins, making recommendations for pattern corrections and construction improvements.
  • Attend fit sessions, take comprehensive fit notes, and communicate revisions clearly to overseas vendors and factories.
  • Create, update, and maintain detailed technical packages (Tech Packs), including construction details, measurement specifications, grading information, and fit comments.
  • Photograph garments during fit sessions to maintain accurate visual fit documentation.
  • Partner closely with Design to preserve the creative vision while ensuring products are commercially viable and production ready.
  • Ensure all garments meet company quality standards, construction requirements, and customer expectations.
  • Report directly to the Director of Technical Design.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of Technical Design experience in the fashion or apparel industry.
  • Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design, Technical Design, Apparel Design, or a related field is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of garment construction, grading, fit analysis, and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience developing woven, knit, or sweater products (sweater experience is a plus).
  • Understanding of fabric behavior, yarns, trims, wash treatments, and apparel manufacturing techniques.
  • Ability to identify fit issues and recommend pattern corrections that maintain design intent.
  • Experience reviewing prototypes, PPS (Pre-Production Samples), TOP samples, and production approvals.
  • Working knowledge of apparel specifications, measurement tolerances, construction methods, and industry fit standards.
  • Experience working with Walmart or other major retailers is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of Be Product and Stylezone is preferred but not required.
  • Proficiency in Flex PLM, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and overseas vendors.
  • Ability to manage multiple seasonal deadlines in a fast-paced apparel environment while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.
