Job Summary:
WealthCounsel, LLC is a leading provider of legal content software solutions, dedicated to supporting member attorneys and their clients. They are seeking a motivated VP, Legal Content to provide strategic leadership over the planning, development, and execution of their legal content software solutions, ensuring their value and usability for WealthCounsel members.
Responsibilities:
• Provides strategic leadership to the Legal Content team, including the Editors in Chief, the Director of Content Development, Legal Editors, and the Product Implementation Manager; supervises and supports these leaders in the execution of their respective areas.
• In collaboration with the CCO, establishes the strategic direction of the company's core software solutions, including Wealth Docx, Elder Docx, Business Docx, Gun Docx, and Wealth Tracx; executes this strategy in continuous collaboration with company leadership, Legal Content team subject matter experts, and the Products and Engineering teams.
• Oversees the development of legal content and the content authoring tools used for legal content development from ideation through production; proactively addresses and resolves issues and risks that arise.
• Communicates with WealthCounsel members, the Products and Engineering team, the Legal Content team, and other stakeholders to identify and assess legal content and software solutions requirements; applies this knowledge to support software solutions development strategy.
• Collaborates with the Learning team to develop educational materials relevant to WealthCounsel’s legal content solutions.
• Presents to and creates written materials for WealthCounsel members and staff about legal technology and substantive estate planning topics.
• Ensures compliance with applicable legal regulations, industry best practices, and company processes and procedures.
• Establishes and communicates strategic direction across all areas of responsibility; executes strategy in collaboration with the CCO and company leadership.
• Communicates department, program, and project performance and process to the CCO through periodic status reports and presentations.
• Develops, implements, and tracks key performance metrics, milestones, specifications, documentation and reporting requirements, and budgets.
• Tracks and analyzes program, project, and process costs across all areas of responsibility.
• Promotes collaboration across departments.
• Maintains current knowledge of trends in the legal technology industry.
• Performs other duties as required.
• Interviews, hires, and trains management-level staff in the Legal Content department.
• Oversees the daily workflow of the Legal Content department.
• Provides constructive and timely performance feedback and evaluations to ensure top-level performance at all levels of the department.
• Leads fair and consistent employee accountability processes, including corrective action and termination, in compliance with company guidelines.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Juris Doctor (JD) required.
• At least 10 years of industry-related experience, including a minimum of three years in an upper management role.
• 10+ years of experience in estate planning and/or elder law.
• Knowledge and familiarity with WealthCounsel's legal content software solutions.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proven ability to improve business processes and practices to reduce costs and increase efficiency.
• Ability to identify and implement best practices and continual performance measurement.
• Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
• Interest in the creative potential of using technology to solve lawyers’ problems and overcome pain points in their practices.
• Willingness to regularly teach, present, and write required.
• Travel to conferences required.
Preferred:
• Knowledge of document automation software preferred.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
