Job description

Children’s Mercy Kansas City Is seeking a Full time Pediatric Sports Medicine Physician

The Department of Pediatric Orthopedic Surgery is seeking a full-time, pediatric sports medicine physician to join our program at a top-ranked children’s hospital.  We are a large team of dedicated professionals who are committed to providing excellent comprehensive care in a supportive environment.  Our multi-disciplinary sports medicine team consists of 3 sports physicians, 2 orthopedic surgeons, 1 nurse practitioner, 40 athletic trainers, 15 physical therapists, a sports psychologist, and sports dietitians.

In addition, the Orthopedic Surgery department includes 11 additional surgeons and one non-operative musculoskeletal physician. The department is comprised of the sections of hand surgery, spine surgery, sports medicine, and trauma. with sections of hand surgery, spine surgery, sports medicine, and trauma. Children’s Mercy Kansas City is the academic training site for numerous pediatric, family practice, and orthopedic residency programs in the Kansas City area.

The ideal candidate should be board certified in pediatrics and has obtained or is eligible for a certificate of added qualification (CAQ) in sports medicine. Highlights of this position include:

  • A diverse and rapidly expanding patient population focused on the student-age athlete
  • Opportunities for developing programming around the female athlete
  • Opportunities for expanding procedural ultrasound in clinic along with ultrasound education
  • Opportunities for research with dedicated sports medicine research coordinator
  • We provide training for 1 primary care/pediatric sports medicine fellow per year as well as sports medicine rotations for pediatric/family practice residents and medical students from multiple different medical schools
  • Partnerships with numerous high schools in the region
  • State-of-the-art facilities including dedicated sports physical therapy, and aquatic therapy
  • Academic appointments are available through the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine (UMKC)
