Action Sports Sales Development Representative

AMERICAN RAMP COMPANY

Joplin, MO โ€ข On-site

Posted 10 days ago

Job description

American Ramp Company (ARC) is a global leader in action sports park design and construction, dedicated to creating safe, inspiring spaces where communities can gather, play, and thrive. With over 25 years of experience and 4,000 projects completed across 44 countries, ARC collaborates with civic leaders, park planners, and community advocates to build custom skate parks, bike parks, and bicycle playgrounds that bring joy and connection to people of all ages. By making riding accessible and fun, ARC strives to transform lives through consistent outdoor activity, fostering healthier, more connected communities around the world.

About the Role

The Action Sports Sales Development Representative (SDR) is a key member of American Ramp Company's sales organization responsible for identifying opportunities, developing relationships, and managing projects throughout the entire sales cycle across the Central Region.

Representing American Ramp Company's Action Sports and Outdoor Recreation development brands, the SDR works with municipalities, military installations, schools, consultants, landscape architects, engineering firms, developers, and other industry-related partners to deliver projects including skateparks, bike parks, asphalt pump tracks, bicycle playgrounds, bike trails, trail systems, and complementary park amenities.

Success in this role extends well beyond prospecting. It comes from understanding each community's goals, providing knowledgeable guidance, and building trusted relationships—not simply selling products. High-performing SDRs develop expertise in American Ramp Company's products, project delivery process, and the industries they serve, confidently guiding customers from initial conversations through project award. Through disciplined execution, consultative selling, and exceptional organization, the SDR helps communities create meaningful recreation spaces while driving long-term growth for American Ramp Company.

What Makes Someone Successful

We're looking for an experienced business development professional who enjoys building relationships, creating opportunities, and winning business. The ideal candidate is naturally competitive, highly organized, self-motivated, and thrives in an accountability-driven environment where performance is measured by execution, consistency, and results.

Successful candidates proactively manage their time, execute structured sales processes, maintain exceptional CRM discipline, and take ownership of their performance with minimal oversight. They understand that long-term success is built through trust, consistency, responsiveness, and becoming a valuable resource to customers long before a project begins.

Experience selling to municipalities, government agencies, or similar organizations is beneficial. Familiarity with public procurement methods—including Requests for Proposals (RFPs), Requests for Qualifications (RFQs), direct procurement, cooperative purchasing programs such as Sourcewell, and other government purchasing methods—is advantageous but not required.

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Have a proven record of prospecting, business development, and closing new business.
  • Be naturally competitive and motivated by achieving and exceeding measurable goals.
  • Thrive in an accountability-driven environment where goals, activity, and performance are measured and celebrated.
  • Demonstrate exceptional organization, prioritization, and time management.
  • Effectively self-manage daily responsibilities while maintaining alignment with leadership expectations.
  • Utilize calendar management and time blocking to maximize productivity.
  • Execute structured sales processes with consistency and discipline.
  • Maintain exceptional CRM accuracy, pipeline visibility, forecasting, and activity tracking.
  • Develop expertise across American Ramp Company's products, services, and the Action Sports and Outdoor Recreation industries.
  • Build trusted relationships within municipalities, consultants, engineers, landscape architects, developers, military personnel, schools, and other customer categories.
  • Communicate professionally and confidently with customers, partners, and internal teams.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, integrity, accountability, coachability, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Core Expectations

Success in this role is measured by execution, accountability, relationships, and results.

Sales Development Representatives are expected to:

  • Build trusted relationships that position American Ramp Company as the preferred long-term partner.
  • Consistently achieve or exceed established activity, pipeline, sales, and performance goals.
  • Develop and manage opportunities throughout the complete sales cycle, from initial outreach through project award.
  • Continuously expand professional networks within municipalities and the Action Sports and Outdoor Recreation industries.
  • Become a knowledgeable resource on American Ramp Company's products, project delivery process, industry trends, funding opportunities, and public procurement methods.
  • Proactively manage schedules through planning, prioritization, and intentional time blocking.
  • Execute American Ramp Company's sales process while maintaining complete CRM accuracy, forecasting, and pipeline visibility.
  • Take ownership of personal performance through disciplined execution and continuous improvement.
  • Represent American Ramp Company with professionalism, responsiveness, integrity, and exceptional customer service.

How You'll Make an Impact

As an Action Sports Sales Development Representative, you'll help communities bring impactful recreation projects to life while growing American Ramp Company's presence throughout the Central Region. You'll own the sales process from prospecting through project award, building lasting relationships and creating opportunities across the Action Sports and Outdoor Recreation industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop new business opportunities through prospecting, networking, referrals, and relationship building.
  • Build strong relationships with municipalities, military installations, schools, consultants, engineers, landscape architects, developers, and other key stakeholders.
  • Develop and execute a strategic territory plan to maximize customer engagement, account coverage, and long-term business growth.
  • Represent American Ramp Company's portfolio of Action Sports and Outdoor Recreation development brands, including skateparks, bike parks, asphalt pump tracks, bicycle playgrounds, bike trails, trail systems, and complementary park amenities.
  • Maintain a healthy sales pipeline while consistently achieving activity, pipeline, and revenue goals.
  • Develop a working knowledge of municipal procurement methods, including RFPs, RFQs, direct procurement, and cooperative purchasing programs such as Sourcewell.
  • Stay organized by maintaining accurate CRM data, managing your calendar effectively, and consistently following up on opportunities.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to deliver exceptional customer experiences from concept through project completion.

Compensation

We offer a competitive compensation package designed to reward performance and long-term success. Compensation includes a base salary, commission opportunities, performance incentives, and a comprehensive benefits package.

Benefits

American Ramp Company offers a comprehensive benefits package, including:

  • Health, Dental, and Vision Insurance
  • Flexible Spending Account (FSA)

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of business development or outside sales experience (preferred)
