Job description

We are currently looking for a Full Time Sod Supervisor to join our Community Services Sod Unit 1 team located at the Chickasaw Farms working .
Summary:
Supervises the day-to-day operations of the Chickasaw sod operation and is responsible for the development, maintenance and harvesting of the sod for the distribution to Chickasaw citizens, tribal businesses and tribal entities. Possesses an avid desire to produce quality landscaping products for Chickasaw citizens and tribal programs, as well as taking pride in the overall appearance and performance of the Farms.
Responsibilities:
  • Provides first class customer service to both internal and external customers and responds to inquiries, compliments, and/or complaints with professionalism, courtesy, and efficiency
  • Completes all training and development requirements and participates in continuing education opportunities
  • Works in a collaborative and supportive manner to support the productivity and safety of the work area, team members and customers of all types
- Maintains a clean, organized work area and ensures a safe environment
  • Maintains and promotes professionalism
  • Punctual and consistent in meeting start time, work schedule, attendance and other assigned work time metrics
  • Adheres to Chickasaw Nation dress code standards
* Maintains knowledge of and follows all rules, regulations, policies and guidelines for assigned area
  • Delegates daily sod duties as well as special projects and must be effective in communicating the duties
  • Assists the manager in planning, administering and evaluating the operations at the farm
  • Assists in strategic and fiscal planning and program development for the area
  • Oversees the sod operation to include development, irrigation, fertilizing, identifying factors adverse to healthy sod and harvesting of product that will result in a well operated sod farm that will produce healthy, viable sod for distribution to Chickasaw homeowners as well as tribal businesses and entities
  • Assumes full responsibility for monitoring of the irrigation pivot during the weekday as well as the weekend, when necessary
  • Oversees projects, special or seasonal, as delegated by the manager
  • Possess the ability to analyze situations, generate and evaluate solutions and exercise initiative
  • Oversees all dirt work done at the farm
  • Ensures that all hay fields are cut and harvested at the appropriate times
  • Coordinates with various tribal entities to produce sod for delivery to Chickasaw homes, tribal businesses and departments
  • Ensures that all equipment, supplies and materials are maintained, inventoried and stored per approved procedures
  • Operates assigned equipment per instructions and approved safety practices.
  • Provides guidance and instruction to personnel committed to the operation
  • Cultivate and sustain cooperative relationships across different divisions, departments, and external entities
  • Prepares reports as needed or requested
  • Performs all other duties as assigned

Competencies:

  • Able to adhere to all scheduling and attendance requirements
  • Basic operation, maintenance and repair of tools and equipment used in farming, landscaping, sod production and ag processes
  • Ability to work independently

  • Able to read, understand, apply, and retain knowledge of Chickasaw Nation, departmental, divisional and all other rules, regulations, policies, procedures and guidelines
  • Knowledge of construction standards and maintenance principles
  • Knowledge in management and supervision of staff
  • Able to verbally communicate in a professional and positive manner with other team members, departments, guests and management
