Overview:
Grace Chinese Alliance Church (GCAC) is seeking a full time Senior Pastor who would, with the Governing Board, have overall oversight of the church, as well as the primary responsibility for leading our Cantonese-speaking ministry. As a Christian & Missionary Alliance (C&MA) church, we focus on Jesus, and our mission is to fulfill His final commandment on earth, the Great Commission.
Grace Chinese Alliance Church is located in the Brooklyn Chinatown of New York City. Since its founding in 1988, GCAC has labored through nuanced cultural changes to bring the light of the Gospel to those who call Sunset Park home. Founded with a missional mindset, a similarly unending effort is in place to assist and participate in carrying out the Great Commission in faraway places. With a combined weekly attendance of about 120, the Chinese and English congregations work together to fulfill the will of God in worship, discipleship, evangelism, ministries, and fellowship.
Qualifications:
  • Preaching fluency in Cantonese and English
  • Conversational fluency in Mandarin a plus
  • Master or Doctorate degree from C&MA approved seminary
  • Ordained and 5+ years pastoral experience
  • Clear pastoral calling with gifts of preaching, teaching and exhortation
  • Commitment and enthusiasm for evangelism, discipleship, caring and visitation
  • Licensed with the C&MA, or eligible for license

Essential Responsibilities:
  • In concert with the Governing Board, the Senior Pastor will discern God's vision for GCAC and lead the church to move in that direction.
  • As the primary leader, teacher, and visionary, the Senior Pastor will oversee the spiritual welfare, growth, and life of the church, including discipleship, evangelism, and equipping the congregation for service.
  • The Senior Pastor will be the primary preacher for the Cantonese ministry, and oversee all pulpit ministries.
  • The Senior Pastor will, with cooperation with the Worship Department, oversee church worship service roles arrangement and delegation.
  • The Senior Pastor will oversee all staff and lead them in alignment with the church's mission, vision, and core values. He will provide regular/ annual performance evaluations of the staff, incorporating input from others as indicated.
  • The Senior Pastor will oversee congregational care ministries, ensuring that every member of GCAC has access to spiritual support and guidance.
  • The Senior Pastor will maintain strong communication skills, both written and oral, to maintain relationships within the congregation and broader community.

Accountability:
  • The Senior Pastor is amenable to the Governing Board, and will participate in regular/ annual performance evaluations, with input from others outside the Governing Board as indicated.
  • As a licensed official worker, the Senior Pastor is also amenable to the District Superintendent.
