Administrative Secretary - Culture & Leisure Services
Starting Salary: $18.46 - 25.27 per hour DOQ

Department: CLS - Museum
The Position
The experienced individual hired for this important role will provide administrative and clerical support to the Culture and Leisure Services Department, ensuring the efficient operation of the department. Responsibilities include performing tasks involving public relations, personnel, budgeting, bookkeeping, and facilities for all divisions including Cemetery, Golf Course, Library, Museum, Parks, Pool, Carhenge and Senior Center. Will coordinate programs such as summer swim lessons and maintains related records. You will be the first point of contact for residents and visitors to the museum, making professionalism, customer service, organization, and attention to detail essential qualities for success. Location and Hours
This position is located at the Knight Museum and Sandhills Center, generally working regular business hours, Monday through Friday. Occasional evening or special event hours may be required to support operations.
About the Position Type
This position is full-time and benefit-earning. Benefits include medical, dental, vision and life insurance as well as paid vacation leave, sick leave, holiday pay, floating holidays, comp time, and a matching retirement plan. The City also offers supplemental insurance along with a Health Savings Account, in which the City contributes up to $1,680/year to help employees cover out-of-pocket medical expenses.
In this Position, you Will
• Provide courteous and professional customer service to the public in person, by phone, and electronically.
• Schedule appointments, meetings, and events; responsible for Shelter House and Museum space rentals.
• Create and distribute public information through social media platforms, website updates, newsletters, press releases, and other communication channels.
• Assist with developing and marketing City programs, events, initiatives, and community engagement activities.
• Oversees design, ordering, and tracking of museum and Carhenge inventory.
• Independently coordinates Swim Lesson programs; schedules lessons, registration, maintains records.
Need to Have
The successful candidate must be detail-oriented, able to manage multiple priorities, and capable of representing the City in a professional and positive manner through all forms of public communication. Experience with Microsoft Office applications, social media management, website content updates, graphic design platforms such as Canva, and basic marketing principles is preferred.
