Job description

Job Responsibilities Business Intelligence Developer The Department of Administration's Division of Enterprise Applications is seeking a Business Intelligence Developer to join our team. We are in growth mode, and it is an exciting time to be a contributing member to a team that maintains the SC Enterprise Information System (SCEIS). SCEIS is the backbone of our business processes and ultimately empowers decision makers to improve government for the citizens.

In this role, position serves as a senior technical resource responsible for the design, development, and support of complex enterprise reporting and analytics solutions supporting financial, human resources, procurement, and operational decision making across state agencies. You will provide expertise in the SAP (System Applications and Products) Business Objects Business Intelligence (BI) platform and in SAP BW and SAP BW/4HANA. You will lead the definition of reporting scope, design options, and technical approach based on agency business needs; establishes and champions development standards and patterns for the Reporting and Analytics team; and provides technical direction for the modernization of the enterprise reporting landscape as the organization transitions to next-generation SAP and cloud analytics platforms.

This position is onsite in Columbia, SC. Responsibilities of Business Intelligence Developer: Design, develop, implement, and support complex enterprise reports, dashboards, and semantic layers using the SAP Business Objects Business Intelligence platform. Develop solutions using SAP Web Intelligence, SAP Crystal Reports, SAP Analysis for Microsoft Office, the Information Design Tool, and comparable analytics platforms such as Microsoft Power Bl or Tableau.

Deliver reporting solutions across varying levels of complexity, data volume, and organizational scope. Design and develop complex analytical data models and queries within SAP BW and SAP BW/4HANA. Develop and maintain lnfoObjects, Advanced DataStore Objects, Composite Providers, Open ODS Views, transformations, Data Transfer Processes, process chains, and BW queries.

Support the curation, integration, and warehousing of enterprise data for reporting and analytics consumption. Conduct feasibility assessments, evaluate design alternatives, and estimate the analysis and development effort required during backlog refinement and planning. Serve as a senior technical liaison to agency customers, functional teams, vendors, and other technical resources.

Evaluate SAP Analysis for Microsoft Office, SAP Analytics Cloud, SAP S/4HANA embedded analytics, SAP Datasphere, and other cloud data and analytics platforms. Lead reporting remediation, conversion, testing, and validation activities associated with SAP S/4HANA and SAP BW/4HANA transitions. Support transport and release management for reporting objects and maintain technical documentation, metadata, and data lineage.

Lead peer code and report reviews, advise team members on complex development issues, and recommend improvements to development operations. Perform advanced performance monitoring and tuning of reports, queries, data loads, and supporting reporting components. Design and maintain reporting security, including SAP BW analysis authorizations and business intelligence platform access.

Lead root-cause analysis and resolution of complex reporting defects, data-quality issues, and production incidents. Ensure the performance, reliability, and operational stability of the enterprise reporting platform. Minimum and Additional Requirements A bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, information systems, or a related technical field and at least five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in business intelligence, reporting, or analytics development.

Three (3) years of which must be with enterprise reporting or data warehousing platforms such as SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence, SAP BW, SAP BW/4HANA, Microsoft Power BI, Tableau, or comparable technologies. Relevant experience may substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis. Additional Requirements: Extensive experience developing operational and analytical reports and dashboards using enterprise business intelligence tools, including complex, multi- source, and high-volume reporting.

Knowledge of semantic layers, BICS connections, universes, InfoProviders, and comparable enterprise reporting structures. Extensive knowledge of data warehousing and data modeling concepts, including star and snowflake schemas, OLAP, hierarchies, aggregation, and slowly changing dimensions. Ability to analyze complex technical and business data, organize information logically, and translate ambiguous reporting needs into sound technical solutions.

Experience working in Agile development environments and with version control, transport management, or CI/CD release processes. Position may be required to report to work during emergency situations. Position may require employe to work evenings and weekends.

Preferred Qualifications Experience delivering enterprise reporting solutions to a large, multi-organizational, or multi-agency customer base.
