What is a full time rotational nanny?

A Full Time Rotational Nanny is a professional childcare provider who works in scheduled shifts, often alternating with another nanny to provide continuous, around-the-clock care for children. This arrangement typically involves living in the family's home for a set period, such as one or two weeks, followed by an equal period off. Rotational nannies are responsible for all aspects of childcare, including daily routines, activities, meals, and sometimes travel with the family. The role is ideal for families who require flexible, reliable, and consistent care, especially in households with demanding schedules or frequent travel.

How does a full time rotational nanny typically coordinate schedules and responsibilities with other nannies or family members?

As a full-time rotational nanny, you will usually work in tandem with another nanny or a team, following a set rotation schedule (such as one week on, one week off). Clear communication and collaboration are essential to ensure consistency in childcare routines, discipline, and family preferences. You'll often use shared digital logs or daily reports to relay important updates about the children, activities, or household matters. Regular check-ins with the other nanny and the parents help maintain a smooth transition between shifts and uphold a high standard of care.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a full time rotational nanny, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Full Time Rotational Nanny, you need expertise in child care, early childhood development, and a proven track record of working with families, often supported by certifications like CPR/First Aid and a valid driver's license. Familiarity with communication apps for scheduling, child monitoring systems, and household management tools is often required. Flexibility, strong communication, and the ability to build trust with both children and parents are vital soft skills in this role. These skills and qualities ensure the nanny can provide high-quality, reliable care and support while adapting to changing schedules and family needs.

What is the difference between Full Time Rotational Nanny vs Full Time Live-in Nanny?

AspectFull Time Rotational NannyFull Time Live-in Nanny
Work EnvironmentRotates between multiple families or locations, often on a scheduleLives with the family in their home
CredentialsTypically requires childcare certifications and experienceSimilar credential requirements, often with references and background checks
Employer & Industry UsageCommon in high-net-worth households with multiple residencesStandard in families seeking full-time, in-home childcare

While both roles involve caring for children full-time, a Full Time Rotational Nanny works across multiple families or locations on a schedule, whereas a Full Time Live-in Nanny resides in the family's home. The choice depends on the family's needs and the nanny's preferences.

ROTA NANNY IN ALYS BEACH & MIAMI NEEDED! LOCAL CANDIDATES STRONLY PREFERRED!

Alys Beach, FL

The Nanny League, Inc.
Individual, Family and Community Social Assistance • 1 - 10 employees

Job description

Overview

NATIONWIDE SEARCH: MIAMI, FL & ALYS BEACH, FL (LOCAL MIAMI CANDIDATES PREFERRED) - An incredible, warm, and active family is seeking an exceptional FULL-TIME NANNY to join their household in a collaborative ROTA-style arrangement alongside another full-time nanny, caring for their delightful and energetic three-year-old son. The family divides their time between Miami and the stunning coastal community of Alys Beach, Florida, and is seeking candidates who are enthusiastic about traveling between both residences throughout the year. Their typical annual schedule consists of January through early June in Miami, June through September in Alys Beach, September through November back in Miami, and the holiday season in Alys Beach. While in Alys Beach, housing will generally be provided. Candidates should, however, be comfortable occasionally living in with the family for shorter stays when separate accommodations are not practical, such as during one- or two-week visits. For stays of four weeks or longer, the family will make every effort to provide separate housing.

Their son is described as an absolute joy-curious, playful, affectionate, and full of energy. The family is seeking educated, developmentally minded caregivers who genuinely love the toddler years and can confidently navigate the "threenager" stage with warmth, patience, consistency, and structure. A background in early childhood education, child development, or a related field is highly valued, as the family may consider homeschooling in the future and would love a nanny who enjoys fostering early learning, manners, emotional intelligence, and positive behavioral development. The ideal candidate is vibrant, active, and genuinely enjoys an outdoor lifestyle. Their son spends a tremendous amount of time outside-whether at the beach, exploring nature, swimming, or engaging in active play-so candidates must be comfortable navigating sand, heat, and humidity while maintaining an engaged, playful presence. The family prioritizes health, wellness, and time outdoors, and caregivers who share these values will thrive in this environment.

This is a true team-oriented role designed to provide the family with exceptional flexibility while ensuring each nanny maintains a balanced and sustainable full-time schedule. The two nannies will work collaboratively, alternating coverage to provide seamless support and allow the parents flexibility to attend dinners, events, travel, and other engagements as needed.

Rather than adhering to a rigid schedule, the role is intentionally structured with flexibility in mind. Each nanny will work up to 40 hours per week, typically following either a four-days-on/four-days-off rotation or complementary split shifts (for example, one nanny working 8:00 AM-2:00 PM and the other 2:00 PM-10:00 PM). This structure creates smooth transitions, consistent coverage throughout the week and weekends, and meaningful time off for both caregivers. The family's ultimate goal in employing two full-time nannies is to create maximum flexibility for the household while fostering longevity, work-life balance, and a positive, sustainable employment environment for each caregiver. In addition to childcare responsibilities, this is a hybrid nanny/family assistant role. During times when the parents are spending direct time with their son, the nanny may assist with light family assistant duties such as organizing common spaces, managing dishes, tidying play areas, running occasional errands, or helping maintain overall household flow. This is not a housekeeping position, but rather a collaborative household in which all team members work together to support the family. The family values caregivers who are safety-conscious, respectful of parental boundaries, highly communicative, and proactive. A strong driving record is essential. Additional skills such as piano, multilingual abilities, or advanced training in early childhood education are considered wonderful bonuses.

Additional Qualifications:

Strong background in early childhood development Extensive toddler experience Energetic, active, and passionate about outdoor play Comfortable traveling between Miami and Alys Beach throughout the year Excellent driver with a clean driving record Organized, proactive, and highly collaborative Comfortable providing evening and weekend coverage as needed Flexible and adaptable within a dynamic family environment

The family identifies as Christian but warmly welcomes candidates from all backgrounds and faith traditions. What matters most is finding a kind, professional, emotionally intelligent caregiver who is excited to become a meaningful and lasting part of their son's world.

This is a truly rare opportunity to work with an extraordinary family in two beautiful coastal locations while caring for a joyful child, enjoying a supportive team environment, and receiving an exceptional compensation and benefits package.
