The Role:Assist in the maintenance and care of a 2,400-acre retreat situated in a beautiful mountain forestenvironment. This role focuses on supporting the upkeep of landscaped areas, trails, and naturalspaces to ensure the retreat remains safe, functional, and visually stunning. The ideal candidate ispassionate about working outdoors, has basic knowledge of groundskeeping or landscaping, and iseager to contribute to the retreat's serene and welcoming atmosphere.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain landscaped areas, including mowing, weeding, trimming, and planting.
  • Assist with trail maintenance to ensure pathways are clear, safe, and accessible.
  • Perform seasonal tasks such as leaf removal, snow clearing, and fire prevention activities.
  • Clean and maintain outdoor common areas, including patios, gardens, and recreation spaces.
  • Support the health and preservation of natural forest areas through basic forestry tasks.
  • Remove debris, invasive plants, and hazards from natural areas and trails.
  • Help implement erosion control and sustainable practices as directed.
  • Operate and maintain landscaping tools and equipment, such as mowers, trimmers, and hand
  • tools.
  • Report equipment issues or maintenance needs to supervisors promptly.
  • Assist with the storage and organization of tools, supplies, and materials.
  • Assist with special projects, such as landscaping installations or outdoor event setups.
  • Monitor grounds for safety hazards, damages, or areas needing attention and report findings to
  • supervisors.
  • Work collaboratively with the groundskeeping team and other departments to meet retreat
  • goals.
  • Install and remove tire socks during winter conditions.
  • In winter, assist in wiping off snow from guest cars and employee equipment.
  • Report any accidents or incidents immediately.
  • No direct supervisory responsibilities

Required Knowledge, skills, and abilities

  • Required to have a current driver's license as well as a clean DMV record.
  • Required to have a passion for serving others.
  • Required to have an operating cell phone and the ability to communicate via an app.
  • Required to drive at speed limits and always practice legal rules of the road and high safety levels.
  • Ability to use phone apps to punch in / out.
  • Ability to perform job functions with attention to detail, speed, and accuracy.
  • Ability to offer high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Ability to troubleshoot challenges, problem-solve, and diffuse high-tension situations.
  • Ability to communicate with others in a manner that is professional and respectful.
  • Ability to read, write, and verbally communicate.
  • Proven experience in groundskeeping, landscaping, or forestry, with at least 3 years in a
  • supervisory role.
  • Knowledge of native plants, forest management, and ecological practices.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills, with the ability to manage a large team and property.
  • Proficiency in operating and maintaining landscaping equipment and machinery.
  • Understanding of safety regulations and best practices for grounds maintenance.
  • A degree or certification in horticulture, forestry, landscaping, or a related field is preferred.

  • Outdoor environment in a mountain forest setting, with exposure to varying weather and terrain.
  • Flexible schedule, including occasional weekends or evenings, depending on retreat needs.
  • Physical stamina and the ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
  • Ability to lift up to 70lbs.
  • Ability to walk, climb stairs, and perform at altitudes up to 9000.
