Job description

About the role
We are seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to help build and scale engineering teams responsible for a new, cloud-native Stop Loss platform. This leader will be accountable for developing high-performing engineering teams, establishing strong technical and delivery practices, and partnering closely with Product, Architecture, business stakeholders, and external delivery partners.
The Senior Engineering Manager will lead engineers through the full software development lifecycle while helping teams translate business capabilities and architectural direction into well-designed, production-ready software. This role requires a leader who can operate effectively in a complex, fast-moving environment while creating the structure, clarity, and technical discipline teams need to deliver sustainably.
What you will do
  • Build, lead, and develop high-performing engineering teams for a cloud-native Stop Loss platform.
  • Drive engineering execution and delivery for key platform capabilities.
  • Partner with Product, Architecture, and business stakeholders to turn business needs into technical solutions.
  • Guide teams through the full software development lifecycle, from design through production support.
  • Influence architectural decisions and ensure teams execute against agreed technical direction.
  • Create clear team structures, operating rhythms, ownership models, and delivery transparency.
  • Identify and manage technical risks, dependencies, and cross-functional coordination challenges.
  • Use metrics and delivery insights to improve predictability, quality, and team performance.
  • Lead across a blended delivery model of employees, contractors, and onshore/offshore vendor teams.
  • Manage vendor relationships, performance, delivery outcomes, and accountability.
  • Partner with vendors on staffing, onboarding, planning, and execution while maintaining ownership of engineering decisions.
  • Help scale the organization through recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and team growth.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, continuous improvement, and sustainable delivery.

Who You Are
  • An experienced engineering leader with a track record of building and scaling successful software engineering teams.
  • Skilled at leading complex, distributed teams that include employees, contractors, and vendor partners.
  • Comfortable operating in fast-paced, evolving environments with ambiguity and changing priorities.
  • Strong in both people leadership and technical leadership.
  • Able to translate strategic objectives into clear, executable plans and measurable outcomes.
  • Experienced partnering with Product, Architecture, and business leaders to deliver customer and business value.
  • Knowledgeable in modern cloud-native software development practices and engineering excellence.
  • Data-driven, using metrics and engineering signals to improve team effectiveness and delivery outcomes.
  • Confident challenging assumptions, plans, and technical approaches when needed.
  • Strong communicator who builds alignment across teams, stakeholders, and external partners.
  • Passionate about coaching, mentoring, and developing engineers and future leaders.
  • Committed to creating an inclusive, collaborative, and high-performing team environment.
