We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Mental Health Counselor to join our team at The Peaceful Mind Counseling Center. The counselor will work primarily Monday through Friday, with a workweek structured around 36 hours, providing a vibrant and collaborative work environment devoid of on-call duties.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive evaluations of clients' mental health, focusing on emotional, psychological, and behavioral factors related to obesity and binge eating.
  • Utilize established diagnostic procedures to assess patients' mental health challenges, guiding the selection of appropriate treatment modalities.
  • Provide personalized therapy sessions tailored to individuals struggling with obesity and binge eating, addressing emotional and psychological influences on their journey to wellness.
  • Develop customized treatment plans according to each client's unique needs, preferences, and goals, ensuring a client-centered approach.
  • Educate clients on the psychological aspects of weight management, including empowerment through improved self-esteem, body image awareness, and stress management techniques.
  • Facilitate group therapy sessions focused on weight management, fostering a supportive environment for clients to share experiences and strategies.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including physicians, nutritionists, and physical therapists, to address clients' comprehensive mental and physical health needs.
  • Regularly assess and document clients' progress in achieving their treatment and health goals, and modify plans based on evolving needs and feedback.
  • Stay informed on evidence-based practices in mental health counseling and weight management, actively participating in workshops and training.

Patient Population / Client Focus

The client population served at The Peaceful Mind Counseling Center predominantly includes individuals facing challenges with obesity and binge eating. Qualifications
  • A master’s degree in mental health counseling or a related field.
  • Possession of an unrestricted LMHC license to practice in New York State.
