Telework: This position will report to the headquartered location a minimum of 3 days per week. You may have the opportunity to telework the remainder of the week, if desired and based on business need.

Salary Range: Legal Assistant I: Pay range 4 - Starting salary of $40,685
Legal Assistant II: Pay range 5 - Starting salary of $45,907
Basic Function
This Legal Assistant position within the Charitable Trusts and Organizations Section provides administrative support to the Deputy Attorneys General and investigative staff in the Harrisburg regional office.
Examples Of Duties
  • Proofreads and edits documents and correspondence to ensure that information is grammatically correct, complete, and consistent and adheres to agency rules and regulations
  • Opens, maintains, closes, and archives cases
  • Drafts correspondence and first drafts of pleadings
  • Assists with document review in litigation cases
  • Assists with filing documents in local courts
  • Assists with compiling exhibits for court pleadings
  • Coordinates travel arrangements for assigned attorneys and investigators
  • Processes all incoming and outgoing mail
  • Prints, scans, and copies documents
  • Processes travel reimbursements for assigned attorneys and investigators
  • Uploads scanned documents into a database
  • Answers phones for the Charitable Trusts and Organizations Section and transfers calls to the appropriate attorney or investigator
  • Operates a desktop computer, scanner, printer, and copier and sends faxes
  • Processes payment requests for filing fees
  • Schedules depositions and/or court reporters
  • Reserves conference rooms
  • Performs other duties as required

Minimum Experience and Training
Legal Assistant I:
  • Three years of responsible clerical, enforcement, or investigative work OR
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training

Legal Assistant II:
  • One year as a Legal Assistant 1 OR
  • Four years of responsible clerical, investigative or enforcement work including one year of legal clerical support experience OR
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • At least one year of experience working in an office environment
