Remote LMHC Counselor – Full-Time Telehealth Role Serving Rhode Island

Job Summary

We are looking for a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) to provide virtual therapy for clients across Rhode Island. This role is centered on real clinical care: meeting clients through secure video sessions, listening carefully to what they are experiencing, helping them sort through mental health concerns, and building treatment plans that feel useful in everyday life.

Clients may come to you for help with anxiety, depression, grief, stress, trauma responses, relationship struggles, or major changes at home or work. Your role is to provide steady counseling support, guide clients toward healthier coping strategies, and help them make progress at a pace that fits their needs.

Location: Rhode Island
Work Setting: Remote / Telehealth
Position Type: Full-Time
Salary: $115,000–$120,000 per year with full benefits
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-on-one counseling sessions through a secure telehealth platform
  • Complete clinical intakes and learn each client’s history, concerns, strengths, and treatment goals
  • Build treatment plans that are clear, realistic, and tailored to each client’s needs
  • Support clients managing anxiety, depression, stress, grief, trauma-related symptoms, and adjustment challenges
  • Use evidence-based counseling methods that fit the client’s presentation and goals
  • Help clients develop practical tools for emotional regulation, communication, boundaries, and coping
  • Document sessions, progress notes, treatment plans, and updates accurately and on time
  • Monitor changes in symptoms, risk factors, and overall functioning throughout care
  • Follow HIPAA, state licensing rules, ethical standards, and telehealth best practices
  • Refer clients to additional services or higher levels of care when needed

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling, Counseling Psychology, Clinical Counseling, or a related field
  • Active and unrestricted Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) license in Rhode Island
  • Experience providing therapy in outpatient care, private practice, community mental health, or telehealth
  • Working knowledge of clinical assessments, treatment planning, and counseling interventions
  • Comfortable using video platforms, electronic health records, and remote communication tools
  • Strong documentation habits and clear written communication skills
  • Ability to manage a full-time caseload with sound clinical judgment
  • Reliable internet connection and a private space for confidential client sessions
