Job description

Amazon is seeking a Manager, Public Policy, to develop and execute the company's public policy efforts related to product safety.
You will be responsible for developing and executing government affairs advocacy objectives and political priorities for Amazon on issues related to product safety at the federal level. You will represent Amazon before Congress and other relevant federal agencies, including the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).
In helping to set the public policy and advocacy agenda for Amazon as it relates to product safety, you will work collaboratively and transparently with others in public policy and business units to ensure alignment between business priorities and public policy goals, as well as coordinate product safety policy positioning more broadly. You will assess and communicate potential government activities back to the business, develop mitigation or enhancement strategies and positions, and help coordinate external advocacy efforts, outreach programs, and key initiatives in concert with business objectives. You will be responsible for effectively educating legislators, key agency officials, and their staffs on product safety issues.
As appropriate, you will work with others on the public policy team to facilitate high-level meetings between executives and key stakeholders, including congressional, regulatory, and industry association and alliance partners, to promote and advocate the company's public policy objectives. You will work with others in public policy to determine, maintain, and staff appropriate corporate membership opportunities in industry associations and political organizations.
Key job responsibilities
- Work collaboratively and transparently with the Public Policy team, the business, and legal department to ensure alignment between core business priorities and public policy goals
- Manage and coordinate external advocacy efforts, outreach programs, and initiatives in concert with business objectives
- Anticipate challenges/obstacles as the public policy landscape evolves
- Participate in relevant industry associations
- Ensure effective use of outside consultants
- Facilitate high-level meetings with key stakeholders, including Congressional, regulatory, industry association, and partners to promote and advocate the company's public policy priorities
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
- 8+ years of public policy experience
- An ability and desire to travel is required
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in working directly with government officials and regulatory bodies
- Experience in regulatory frameworks and policy analysis methodologies
- Experience working on product safety public policy and other matters related to Amazon's policy priorities

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
