Job description

Hours:
7.75 Hours/Day
Title:  Food Service Coordinator
Organizational / Labor Relationship:  Collective Bargaining Agreement East Penn School District and Foodcrafters Assocation ESP/PSEA/NEA of the East Penn School District
Status (FLSA):  10 month position, non-exempt, hourly
Position Summary:  To manage the cafeteria and staff, serve quality food, practice good sanitation and customer service
Qualifications:  Possesses a valid Pennsylvania driver's license at all times
Education: High school graduate or GED equivalent
Experience:  
















  1. Experience in school or institutional food service
  2. Experience supervising others


Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

  1. Ability to understand and carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
  2. Ability to read, write and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos
  3. Is able to independently read, write, speak and comprehend the English language
  4. Ability to communicate courteously, efficiently and effectively with a variety of individuals, including students, staff, administrators, parents and representatives of outside organizations
  5. Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with peers, supervisors, parents and outside agencies
  6. Dependability, punctuality and initiative are essential
  7. Good personal hygiene


Essential Functions / Duties / Responsibilities

  1. Follow all HACCP and USDA food policies and regulations
  2. Knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations related to school food service
  3. Supervise front and back of the house operations, including production
  4. Ordering of all food supplies, and other items needed for the cafeteria
  5. Check in all deliveries and distribute them to proper storage places, including rotation of stock
  6. Assign leader duties and coordinate daily menus with line and production leaders
  7. Responsible for computer operations including programming of Snap, making of signs, daily paperwork and Reinhart orders
  8. Review production records of leaders and support staff making sure they are competed and correct
  9. Responsible for the production and organization of food to be shipped to the elementary kitchens
  10. Coordinate catering services when needed
  11. Handle parent/student lunch account concerns
  12. Conduct final inspection of food lines, before first lunch, for temperature, appearance and taste
  13. Monitor employees for appropriate dress, schedule and job performance
  14. Meet daily with leaders and weekly with support staff to discuss problems or concerns
  15. Communicate with the Food Service Manager/Assistant Manager on a daily basis to discuss any problem or concerns that you or the staff may have
  16. Other duties as assigned 


Physical Requirements 

  1. Ability to stand, bend, stoop, sit, lift up to 30 lbs., reach, communicate (vision, hearing, and speech), carry or convey sufficient weight to safely and effectively carry out functions, duties, and responsibilities
  2. Ability to independently ambulate in and around school buildings and office areas
  3. Ability to independently arrive at the designated work site and adhere to the established work schedule
  4. Can stand/walk for lengthy periods of time
