Job Role: Welder/ Mechanical Assembler
Duration: Direct Hire (Full- Time)
Location: City Of Industry, CA
 
JOB SUMMARY:
 The Welder is responsible for preparing specifications for fabrication, assembly, and installation of
apparatus and control instrumentation used to test experimental or prototype mechanical, electrical,
electromechanical, hydromechanical, or structural products.
 
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Reads and interprets engineering drawings and blueprints to ensure accurate welding specifications.
  • Positions, aligns, fits, clamps, tacks, and welds parts in assigned work area.
  • Performs assembly work with pumps and sheet metal.
  • Uses hand tools to shape and cut metal pieces.
  • Cleans and prepares surface to be welded while maintaining a clean and organized work area, adhering to safety protocols and guidelines.
  • Performs TIG welding on sheet metal and stainless steel components to fabricate high-quality products.
  • Inspects welds for accuracy and quality as determined by work order specifications.
  • Utilizes tape ruler, calipers, or gauges to ensure product meets desired standards.
  • Aligns and fits together fabricated plates, structural shapes and weldments preparatory to assembly; welds different metals to blueprint.
  • Identifies and rectifies defects or errors in welding processes.
  • Maintains and performs routine checks on welding equipment to ensure proper functionality.
  • Writes routine reports and correspondence and reads operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Performs and assists with Mechanical Assembler job duties that include plumbing, electrical wiring, painting and the assembly/dissembling of products for shipping when welding work is not being performed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with ability to read blueprint/schematics, and sketch specifications.
  • Proficient in horizontal, vertical and 6G welding positions that includes MIG Welding and TIG Welding for pipe and sheet metal.
  • High attention to detail
  • High efficiency in pipe/tube cutting, grinding, threading and fabrication.
  • Must have thick steel pipe welding experience.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts for lengths, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, angles and
  • volume. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Knowledge of common welding practices and procedures.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
  • High school diploma or GED, 5 years’ experience and/or training with MIG/TIG; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must have Valid Certified Welder - 6G Certified for ASME Code welding.
  • 5 years’ experience with fabrication shop equipment.
  • 5 years metal work experience preferred.
  • MIG/TIG welding of stainless steel, aluminum, and carbon steel.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Regularly required to stand and walk; reach with hands and arms, as well as sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Properly use and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE) and welding machinery. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. 
  • Regularly works near moving mechanical parts; exposed to high, precarious places. Occasionally works in outside weather conditions and is exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock; additionally may be required to perform welding in varying environmental conditions, including hot, humid, or cold temperatures. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
