Job description

The parts manufactured here are referred to as injection molding or extrusion screws. They are used in equipment that manufactures plastic products. These so called screws are either alloy steel , tool steel or high temp materials such as inconel. They range in size from 1” OD at 20” lg up to 10” OD at 25’lg. A custom VMC with a rotary head is used to mill helix’s on X, Y, Z, and A.

You would be responsible for set up, machining, editing, deburring and inspecting your own work. Parts are made off of prints and detailed instructions. This is a very interactive position. Throughout the process adjustments must be made and programs restarted mid program. We are not a typical CNC shop. No program is ever run from start to finish at the push of the button. Most jobs are one offs. Production runs for us would be a maximum of 5 pieces.

Additionally there are times when you may be asked to run conventional knee mills, horizontal boring mills, and lathes.

You should be proficient in:

  • G-Code
  • M-Code
  • CNC Machine Setup & Changeover
  • Manual Machining Skills

Machines & technologies you'll use:

  • CNC Mill (3-4 axis VMC) (Fanuc, Haas)
