Position Description
Division: Brannan Construction Company
Position: Project Manager/Estimator - Civil Underground Wet Utilities
Reports To: Division Manager
FLSA Status: Full Time, Exempt
Location: Denver, CO
Salary Range: $90,000 - $140,000 (Dependent on Experience)
Position Summary:
Brannan Construction Company is seeking an experienced Project Manager/Estimator to lead wet utility projects from preconstruction through final closeout. This position is responsible for developing accurate, competitive estimates, securing work, and managing awarded projects to meet safety, quality, schedule, financial and customer expectations.
Functional Responsibilities
Safety
  • Promote and enforce company safety policies, procedures and industry best practices.
  • Monitor project safety and support required safety training and initiatives.
  • Partner with field leadership to proactively identify and address hazards.
  • Ensure required safety activities and documentation are complete, accurate and compliant with company and regulatory requirements.
  • Foster a culture in which safety is a shared responsibility and core value.

Quality Assurance and Project Expertise
  • Manage project quality from bid through closeout with a thorough understanding of plans, specifications, contracts and scope of work.
  • Apply strong knowledge of construction means and methods to identify, evaluate and resolve project challenges.
  • Manage projects using a variety of delivery methods, including design-build, CM-GMP, lump sum and unit price.
  • Communicate quality expectations and ensure work is performed in accordance with plans, specifications, contractual requirements and company standards.
  • Lead post-project reviews to document lessons learned, identify opportunities for improvement and recognize team success.

Scheduling and Project Controls
  • Develop and manage project schedules from initial bid through final closeout.
  • Prepare accurate projections for self-performed labor, equipment and supervision costs.
  • Coordinate post-award project handoffs with operations, confirming scope, estimate assumptions, budgets, schedule, risks and execution strategy.
  • Maintain and update CPM schedule weekly.
  • Communicate project progress, productivity goals, milestones, constraints and critical-path activities to project stakeholders.
  • Manage project controls and documentation, including submittals, requests of information, meeting records, as-built drawings, correspondence, visual progress documentation and closeout requirements.
  • Identify project risks and schedule impacts early, implement appropriate corrective actions and promptly escalate issues requiring owner or leadership involvement.

Customer and Stakeholder Satisfaction
  • Build and maintain productive relationships with owners, engineers, general contractors, public agencies, subcontractors, vendors and internal stakeholders.
  • Serve as the primary project liaison, ensuring clear, timely and professional communication and alignment around project goals, responsibilities, milestones and expectations.
  • Proactively address questions, concerns, conflicts and disputes before they affect project performance.
  • Foster a positive and productive work environment through collaboration, accountability and mentorship.

Position Requirements
Qualifications:
  • Five or more years of direct experience managing civil construction contracts, preferably involving underground wet utility projects.
  • Demonstrated estimating and project management experience.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills with the ability to develop and support high performing teams.
  • Sound professional judgement, integrity and accountability.
  • Ability to prioritize competing demands and manage high-volume workload in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, negotiation, problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
  • Proficiency with HCSS HeavyBid or B2W estimating software.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Project or equivalent scheduling software, including developing and maintaining project schedules.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction management or related field preferred or equivalent combination of education, training and relevant construction experience
