Job description

Phlebotomy Technician Phlebotomy The Phlebotomy Technician will: Responsible for accurately registering outpatients, obtaining blood samples and performing EKG, demonstrating knowledge and skills as appropriate to the age and level of difficulty of the patient (Neonates, Pediatrics, Adolescents, Adults, Geriatrics). Performs routine and assigned functions under the direction of the Phlebotomy Supervisor and/or designee. Demonstrates proficiency and understanding of specimen procurement as appropriate to the ages of the patient's growth and developmental through the life cycle factors (Neonates, Pediatrics, Adolescents, Adults, Geriatrics).

Maintains communication with other departments. Maintains work area. Assists Supervisor in training.

Assumes leadership role and uses problem-solving methods, in absence of supervisor or as weekend Lead Phlebotomist. Requirements: Medical Terminology, ICD 10 coding and CRT data experience strongly preferred. Strong customer service skills.

Knowledge of third party payer, federal and state regulations desired. Highly motivated, enthusiastic team player. Bilingual ability (Spanish/English) preferred.
