As of Jun 11, 2026, the average hourly pay for part time phlebotomy supervisor in the United States is $30.00, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $23.08 and $33.65 per hour, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What are some common challenges faced by part-time phlebotomy supervisors, and how can they be managed effectively?

Part-time phlebotomy supervisors often face challenges such as balancing supervisory duties with limited hours, ensuring consistent communication across shifts, and maintaining high standards of specimen collection and patient care. To manage these effectively, supervisors should prioritize clear documentation, regularly touch base with their teams, and leverage digital tools for task tracking. Building strong relationships with both staff and other healthcare professionals also helps in swiftly addressing any workflow or quality concerns.

What are Part Time Phlebotomy Supervisors?

Part Time Phlebotomy Supervisors are healthcare professionals who oversee phlebotomy staff and operations on a part-time basis. Their responsibilities typically include supervising blood collection procedures, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards, training new staff, and managing schedules. They play a key role in maintaining accurate records and addressing any issues that arise during specimen collection. Working part-time allows them to balance supervisory duties with other professional or personal commitments.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Part Time Phlebotomy Supervisor, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Part Time Phlebotomy Supervisor, you need a strong background in phlebotomy techniques, leadership experience, and typically a certification such as CPT (Certified Phlebotomy Technician) or equivalent, along with supervisory or management credentials. Familiarity with laboratory information systems (LIS), safety protocols, and quality assurance standards is essential. Excellent communication, team management, and problem-solving skills help foster a positive and efficient work environment. These competencies ensure accurate specimen collection, regulatory compliance, and effective team performance within a fast-paced healthcare setting.

What other jobs can I do as a phlebotomist?

As a phlebotomist, you can transition into roles such as medical assistant, laboratory technician, or patient care technician, which often require similar skills in specimen collection and patient interaction. Additional opportunities include working in mobile phlebotomy, healthcare administration, or pursuing certifications to advance into supervisory or specialized laboratory roles.

What is the 2 stick rule in phlebotomy?

The 2 stick rule in phlebotomy, including for a part-time phlebotomy supervisor, refers to a guideline where a technician attempts to draw blood from a patient up to two times. If unsuccessful after two attempts, the technician should seek assistance or escalate the case to ensure patient comfort and sample quality. This rule helps maintain safety, efficiency, and professionalism in blood collection procedures.

What is the highest paying job for a phlebotomist?

The highest paying roles for phlebotomists often include supervisory or specialized positions such as Phlebotomy Supervisor or Lead Phlebotomist, which typically offer higher salaries due to increased responsibilities and experience requirements. Advanced certifications, such as Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or supervisory skills, can also contribute to higher earnings in this field.

Will phlebotomy be replaced by AI?

Phlebotomy supervisors oversee blood collection processes, which require human skills such as patient interaction and manual dexterity. While AI and automation can assist with tasks like data management and sample tracking, the role of a phlebotomist remains essential for safe, accurate blood draws and patient care, making complete replacement unlikely in the near future.
