What is a full time overnight USPS job?

Full Time Overnight USPS jobs refer to positions within the United States Postal Service that require employees to work overnight shifts, typically covering late evening to early morning hours. These roles can include mail processing clerks, package handlers, and mail sorters, who are responsible for sorting, processing, and preparing mail and packages for delivery. Working overnight ensures that mail and packages are ready for distribution each day. Employees in these positions often receive shift differentials and are eligible for full-time benefits. The work can be physically demanding and fast-paced, but it provides an essential service to communities.

What are some common challenges faced by full time overnight USPS employees, and how can they be managed?

Full-time overnight USPS employees often encounter challenges such as adjusting to a nocturnal schedule, managing fatigue, and maintaining work-life balance. Working overnight can disrupt normal sleep patterns, so it's important to establish a consistent sleep routine and create a restful environment at home. Additionally, these roles may involve repetitive tasks and lifting, so practicing safe lifting techniques and taking regular short breaks can help reduce physical strain. Building camaraderie with coworkers during overnight shifts can also enhance morale and make the work environment more supportive.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a full time overnight USPS worker, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Full Time Overnight USPS Worker, you need strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to lift packages, typically supported by a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with mail sorting systems, handheld scanners, and USPS tracking software is commonly required. Reliability, efficiency, and the ability to work independently during overnight hours are essential soft skills. These abilities ensure timely and accurate mail processing, which is crucial to maintaining USPS service standards and customer satisfaction.

Does the full time overnight USPS have staff?

Yes, full-time overnight USPS positions have staff who work during overnight shifts to handle mail processing and delivery. These roles typically require physical stamina, attention to detail, and adherence to safety protocols, with staffing levels depending on the facility's size and workload.

Does the full time overnight USPS offer an overnight service?

Full-time overnight USPS employees typically work overnight shifts to sort and deliver mail, but USPS does not guarantee overnight delivery for all shipments. Overnight service is available through specific mailing options like Priority Mail Express, which customers can choose for guaranteed overnight delivery, but this is separate from employee work shifts.

Job description

Lead Commercial / Industrial Electrician

Location: Covington / East Atlanta, GA
Compensation: $38–$45 per hour (DOE)
Full-Time | Company Truck Provided

We're partnering with a well-established and growing commercial/industrial electrical contractor in the greater Atlanta area that is adding a strong, well-rounded electrician to their team.

This is not a residential role. The company works strictly in commercial and light industrial environments, including data centers, federal facilities, USPS buildings, industrial plants, remodels, and tenant build-outs.

They are looking for someone who can operate independently, run projects when needed, and still work hands-on in the field.

What They Need

This position requires a true field leader — someone who can:

  • Run commercial or industrial projects

  • Lead a helper when required

  • Handle remodels and service work independently

  • Troubleshoot without always relying on detailed engineered drawings

  • Think on their feet and solve problems correctly the first time

  • Represent the company professionally with customers

You will be assigned a fully equipped service truck and trusted to manage your work.

Types of Projects
  • Commercial remodels & tenant build-outs

  • Industrial line relocations and equipment moves

  • Data center projects

  • Federal and USPS facilities

  • Service troubleshooting and repairs

  • Projects ranging from small service calls to multi-million-dollar jobs

What’s Offered
  • $38–$45/hour for the right candidate

  • Fully equipped service truck (bins, ladders, PPE, power tools)

  • Company credit card

  • Strong backlog of work

  • Long-term stability with a growing company

Qualifications
  • 7+ years of commercial/industrial electrical experience

  • Strong troubleshooting ability

  • Experience running jobs and directing helpers

  • Stable work history

  • Clean driving record

  • Ability to pass background checks (federal work required)

  • Professional appearance and strong communication skills

Travel
  • Primarily local work within the East / Greater Atlanta region

  • Occasional overnight travel depending on workload

  • The company makes every effort to keep crews working close to home

This opportunity is ideal for a seasoned electrician who still enjoys working with the tools but has the leadership capability to run projects and take ownership in the field.
