MANTECH seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented Principal Cloud Engineer to join our team in Chantilly, VA.

The Principal Cloud Engineer will leverage their strong technical background and knowledge to design, implement, and manage secure multi-cloud infrastructures across AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) in support of mission-critical operations, with a strong focus on security monitoring and threat detection. This role supports complex cloud environments by leveraging modern DevOps tools and practices, collaborating across teams to solve technical challenges.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Supporting multi-cloud services and infrastructure across one or more enterprise cloud platforms (including AWS, Azure, GCP, and OCI) using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, ARM templates, or CloudFormation
  • Troubleshooting and resolving issues related to multi-cloud environments while implementing cloud security best practices
  • Leveraging multi-cloud data and security services to ensure robust security posture, logging, and compliance across platforms
  • Writing and maintaining automation scripts in PowerShell, Python, or CLI and executing them using serverless and cloud automation services
  • Configuring network security groups, application gateways, and other network controls to protect cloud resources across diverse cloud environments
  • Managing compute, storage, networking, and database services across one or more cloud environments ( such as AWS, Azure, GCP, or OCI)
  • Applying security best practices and compliance standards while collaborating effectively across teams to address complex technical needs

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or 4+ additional years of IT experience in lieu of a degree
  • 7+ years of experience in cloud computing, including hands-on expertise designing or managing solutions one or more major cloud platforms (such as AWS, Azure, GCP, or OCI).
  • Experience designing and deploying cloud-based solutions across multiple providers, and working with DevOps tools such as Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or Git
  • Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform, Ansible, including one or more vendor-native tools: CloudFormation (AWS) or ARM Templates and Bicep (Azure)
  • Familiarity with cloud template technologies including Azure Resource Manager, GitHub Enterprise, GitLab, and/or architecture frameworks such as TOGAF or Zachman
  • Experience automating workflows using scripting tools such as PowerShell, Bash, Python, YAML, JSON, or Ansible
  • DoD 8570 IAT Level 2 certification (e.g., CCNA Security, GICSP, GSEC, Security+, CND, SSCP) or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes across AWS, Azure, GCP, and OCI managed services
  • Familiarity with the Atlassian tool suite, specifically JIRA and Confluence
  • Understanding of Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS)-199, NIST SP 800-53, NIST SP 800-53A, NIST SP 800-37, and DoD Cloud Security Requirements Guide
  • Multi-cloud technical certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect, or Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Architect

Clearance Requirements:

  • An active TS/SCI with Polygraph.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50%.
  • Needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Frequently communicates with co-workers, management, and customers, which may involve delivering presentations.
  • Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
