Logistics Support Technician (LST) โ€“ (Full-Time)

POSITION TITLE: Full-Time Logistics Support Technician (LST) REPORTS TO: Manager of Logistics and Production

DEPARTMENT: Logistics and Production

POSITION SUMMARY

The Logistics Support Technician is a full-time member of the logistics team responsible for ensuring ambulance and equipment readiness, cleanliness, inventory support, and vehicle movement under the supervision of the Logistics Lieutenant. This position plays a critical role in supporting field operations through systematic decontamination, restocking, and deployment of response vehicles. Technicians are expected to follow all agency safety, infection control, and inventory protocols while maintaining a professional and mission-oriented approach.

The LST also provides support during special events, surge responses, and agency activations. Technicians may interface with Fleet Services or Communications for vehicle staging, logistical coordination, or operational support. The position may also serve as a pathway for advancement within RAAโ€™s logistics or EMS operations tracks.

POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

System Support & Readiness
  • Clean, disinfect, and restock ambulances and EMS equipment according to protocols
  • Ensure proper use of PPE and adherence to infection control standards
  • Perform inspections on units for cleanliness, function, and readiness
  • Move, park, and stage ambulances as directed to support operations
  • Support surge inventory module deployment and preloaded vehicle operations during high incident responses
  • Assist with the staging and stocking of Quick Response Vehicles (QRVs) and supervisor units
Equipment & Inventory Management
  • Restock and organize medical and operational supplies per RAA standards
  • Binning of EMS supplies in accordance with agency standards for use on apparatus
  • Assist with receipt, storage, and rotation of logistics inventory
  • Identify and report equipment defects, malfunctions, or damage
  • Assist with inventory counts, QA tracking, and Operative IQ entries as assigned
  • Track expiration dates of medical supplies and ensure timely rotation or disposal
  • Support equipment recall tracking or asset labeling projects
Operational Compliance & Support
  • Follow agency procedures and chain of command for daily assignments
  • Complete required checklists, logs, and documentation accurately and on time
  • Support logistics preparation for special events, public functions, or large-scale activations
  • Report unsafe conditions or hazards promptly to supervision
  • Escort vendors, contractors, or inspectors as needed within the logistics workspace
  • Participate in internal drills or response activations as directed by the Logistics Lieutenant

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • At least 18 years of age
  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions
  • Ability to lift, move, and organize supplies and equipment
  • Valid Virginia driverโ€™s license with acceptable driving record
  • Ability to work effectively within a team and under supervisory direction

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior EMS, public safety, warehouse, or logistics experience
  • Familiarity with EMS vehicle or medical supply handling
  • Prior experience using Operative IQ or similar inventory software
  • OSHA or infection control certification or training

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Prolonged periods of walking, standing, bending, and lifting
  • Must lift and carry up to 50 pounds independently and 150 pounds with assistance
  • Frequent physical activity required in indoor and outdoor environments
  • Required to have visual acuity to operate motor vehicles and or equipment in both day and night lighting conditions.
  • Must pass the agencyโ€™s Human Performance Evaluation
  • Must be able to wear PPE and work in potentially biohazardous settings
  • Subject to environmental exposure including heat, cold, noise, and weather extremes
PERFORMANCE EVALUATION

The Logistics Support Technician is evaluated bi-annually by the Logistics Captain or Lieutenant based on accuracy, efficiency, readiness support, professional conduct, and compliance with agency procedures.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

  • Must maintain eligibility to drive agency vehicles under RAA policy
  • Must participate in ongoing safety and infection control training
  • Subject to pre-employment and random drug screening, fingerprint-based background check, and physical ability test
