The Role

The Digital Characters and Environments Algorithms team is at the forefront of innovation to enhance and support the vision of creators of movies and TV shows. This team's work is responsible for driving the efficiency of high end visual effects production, ultimately creating more joy for viewers all over the world.
We are looking for a software engineer with experience in the machine learning (ML) and computer graphics (CG) domains to design and develop the next generation of tools to be used by our visual effects studios.
In this role, you will:
  • Design and develop tools that support artists' workflows by integrating GenAI models to expand creative opportunities.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with research scientists, engineers, product managers, as well as creative and business partners and stakeholders, to help define and prioritize requirements.
  • Participate in algorithm development and propose scalable designs.
  • Contribute to building the development infrastructure.
  • Promote and facilitate software engineering best practices in the team.

About you:
  • Industry experience of visual effects with practical knowledge tools such as Nuke, Houdini or Maya.
  • Familiarity with concepts and workflows in ML and/or CG.
  • Skilled in Python programming.
  • Passion for turning ideas into great artist experiences.
  • Excellent communication and people engagement skills.

Bonus experience:
  • Knowledge of deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch and Tensorflow.
  • Experience with models and tools for image/video generative AI.
  • Experience with large-scale distributed data processing systems and cloud infrastructure.

Our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options. To determine your personal top of market compensation, we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to determine your compensation in the market range. The range for this role is $170.000- $720,000.
Netflix provides comprehensive benefits including Health Plans, Mental Health support, a 401(k) Retirement Plan with employer match, Stock Option Program, Disability Programs, Health Savings and Flexible Spending Accounts, Family-forming benefits, and Life and Serious Injury Benefits. We also offer paid leave of absence programs. Full-time hourly employees accrue 35 days annually for paid time off to be used for vacation, holidays, and sick paid time off.
