The Core Infrastructure team is looking for a hands-on Engineering Manager to lead the platform that powers Snap's critical Storage & Caching Infrastructure. We build and operate the platform that provisions, scales, rightsizes, and manages the lifecycle of storage and caching systems serving Snap's most critical workloads. This is a unique opportunity to shape Snap's storage and caching strategy as we scale to meet the demands of an AI-first world. What you'll do:

  • Manage and mentor a team of backend and full-stack developers, in a fast-paced, quick-to-market environment

  • Build infrastructure for data processing at Snap with large scale distributed systems.

  • Set the strategy, build a roadmap, create measurable goals, and lead your team to deliver

  • Collaborate with Product, Operation, Data Science and Engineering teams, and executive stakeholders

  • Evaluate the technical tradeoffs of major decisions and be a strong technical mentor

  • Hire, grow and retain high-performing team members

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Background with building high availability and mission critical systems

  • Experience with leading an engineering team

  • Ability leading and executing large, complex technical initiatives

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant technical field such as computer science or equivalent years of practical work experience

  • 9+ years of post-Bachelor's software development experience; or a Master's degree in a technical field + 8+ year of post-grad software development experience; or a PhD in a related technical field + 5+ years of post-grad software development experience

  • 1+ years of experience managing a team of engineers or acting as a Tech Lead

  • Experience building large scale distributed systems

  • Experience with big data processing and pipelines.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with the driving large scale initiatives from ideation to completion

  • Track record of delivery in rapidly changing, highly collaborative, multi-stakeholder environments

  • Experience with Hadoop, Hive, Trino, BigQuery, and Spark

Compensation

In the United States, work locations are assigned a pay zone which determines the salary range for the position. The successful candidate's starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. The starting pay may be negotiable within the salary range for the position. These pay zones may be modified in the future.

Zone A (CA, WA, NYC):

The base salary range for this position is $229,000-$343,000 annually.


Zone B:

The base salary range for this position is $218,000-$326,000 annually.

Zone C:

The base salary range for this position is $195,000-$292,000 annually.This position is eligible for equity in the form of RSUs.
